2 (off peak)
Munro's is ideal for big groups of extended families and friends as it sleeps up to 16 people in eight bedrooms and has an acre of gardens. The well-appointed house is just to the north of Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, within walking distance of the village shop and The Port Inn pub. With weekly bookings and short breaks available throughout the year (except during the peak weeks), isn't it time you planned your island escape?
Bute is a pocket-sized piece of heaven with its lovely sandy beaches, quiet lanes and miles of countryside. It's hard to believe that this peaceful getaway is only 90 minutes from Glasgow! Munro's is in the northeast of the island, around a mile from the ferry port, shops and amenities of Rothesay. Guests can walk from the house to Ettrick Bay (approximately 45-minutes on foot), and there is easy access to footpaths and cycling trails to explore the island.
Bute is only 15 miles long and four miles wide, so nothing is difficult to reach. The way-marked West Island Way footpath is a favourite way to explore for walkers. Alternatively, cycle around the island (an enjoyable 21-mile loop), or go off-road on the mountain bike trails around Moor Road and Loch Fad. Despite its size, the island has three golf courses, with guests also having the opportunity to go loch and sea fishing.
Attractions in Bute include the Mount Stuart House with its beautiful 300 acre gardens, Ardencraig Gardens and aviary, Rothesay Castle, and Loch Fad - a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a favourite with anglers and bird watchers as well as walkers. Ettrick Bay is within walking distance of the house, while Scalpsie Bay and St Ninian's is also close. Visitors can also take the 5-minute ferry journey for a day-trip to Argyll.
Island life is not frantic and rushed but calm and measured, set by the seasons rather than the demands of work and commuting. The owners of Munro's have created a comfortable and relaxing place where family and friends can unwind and enjoy spending time together.
Munro's is a period property with modern updates carefully integrated with original features to create an environment with character and comfort.
