About Lochliath, 17a Husabost

Lochliath, has some of the best views of any Highland holiday cottage you'll see. Newly constructed in 2019, the timber-clad property is near Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye with panoramic views over the loch and surrounding countryside. It's nothing less than idyllic and will quickly become one of your favourite self-catering holidays ever. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage sleeps four people and is perfect for couples, families or friends.

The Isle of Skye is always stunning, no matter what season you visit. Dunvegan is a scenic six miles around the loch's edge. It is best known for Dunvegan Castle, the ancestral home of the Chief of Clan McLeod since the 1400s. The castle and its exquisite formal gardens are open to the public between Easter and October, with visitors able to book a boat trip to go fishing, sightseeing, or see the local seal colony who live happily in the pristine waters of the loch.

Walking is a superb way to understand the unique qualities of the landscape fully. The Cuillin mountain range has a dramatically jagged shape that is visible from many places on the island. The area is a designated Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Protection Area for birds that include the Golden Eagle. It's entirely possible to walk for hours without seeing another person, making this a fantastic holiday destination for anyone who wants to escape the noise and tension of daily life. Road cycling and mountain biking, and climbing are also readily accessible, as are fishing, kayaking and other watersports.

Attractions on the Isle of Skye also include the Fairy Pools (take a towel if you feel brave enough for a plunge!), Talisker Distillery (your wallet for holiday gifts!), the Quiraing (your walking boots) and Skye Museum of Island Life. Visit the award-winning Skyeskyns tannery, where you can see how sheepskins have been turned into cosy throws and other items for centuries and Armadale Castle, the seat of Clan Donald with its museum. There is also a raft of artisans who showcase their work in the island's galleries.

The views from Lochliath are so beautiful that you could easily spend your entire holiday within strolling distance of the cottage, sitting quietly under enormous skies enjoying the beauty, tranquillity and wildlife of the location.
