About 1 Grealin

1 Grealin is a traditional crofter's house with stunning views overlooking the sea on one side and the ridge of the Trotternish mountains on the other. It's a great choice for families with plenty of space for five people to sleep in three comfortable bedrooms, one of which is ensuite. Although off the beaten track, the holiday cottage is close enough to Portree for convenience, and there's a well-stocked village shop ten minutes drive away. If you've been dreaming of an authentic taste of Skye, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.

The Trotternish Peninsula is in the north of Skye, best known for its towering volcanic ridge that is a favourite with keen walkers. It runs all the way from Flodigarry in the north to The Storr in the south and will take your breath away in more ways than one, rewarding efforts with the dramatic sight of the Old Man of Storr, The Needle, and The Prison. Other places to see include Loch Fada, Duntulm Castle, Lealt Falls, and Kilt Rock and waterfall. Further afield are Dunvegan Castle, the seat of Clan MacLeod and Scotland's oldest continuously inhabited castle, and the iconic Cuillin Mountains.

Staffin Bay is four miles from the cottage, with a lovely beach, village shop and two cafes. There are more amenities 14 miles away in Portree, the main town on the Isle of Skye, where you can also arrange guided tours and equipment hire if you need it.

Thanks to the efforts of the owners, 1 Grealin has a real home-away-from-home feel to it. It's welcoming and cosy, with all the creature comforts you need, including WiFi. Bookings are available all year round. Children and one dog welcome.

The property has been awarded a Short Let Licence from the Highland Council, number HI-30326-F.

Accommodation Comprises:

1 Grealin is a traditional whitewashed crofter's cottage with accommodation over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • Country kitchen with an antique pine table and chairs to use as space for eating and preparing meals. The cupboards and drawers are well stocked with equipment and utensils.
  • Separate scullery with a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, and cleaning equipment.
  • Sitting room with a large sofa and two armchairs, a harmonium, and shelves of books for you to enjoy during your stay. There is also a TV with Freeview channels and a DVD player.
  • Family bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • Stairs lead to the hallway on the first floor where there are three bedrooms.
  • Master bedroom with a double bed, bedside tables with reading lights, and storage. The ensuite has a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Twin bedroom with two comfortable single beds and proper storage.
  • Third bedroom with a single bed, bedside table with reading light, and storage.

Outside: The enclosed garden is mainly lawn and mature trees with staggering views and benches where you can enjoy Skye's memorable sunrises and sunsets. There's off-street parking for multiple cars.

Accommodation Comprises: Bed linen, bath towels, WiFi and utilities are all included. A travel cot is available but guests will need to bring cot bedding. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Smoking is not permitted.
