Moorburn Cottage is situated on a working farm just a few hundred meters from Berwickshire’s spectacular clifftops. Surrounded by stunning scenery and located in a secluded position, it is the perfect self-catering retreat to relax and unwind. The holiday cottage sleeps four with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, making it ideal for either couples or families wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The well-maintained private garden is a lovely spot for an alfresco lunch or during the cooler months you can snuggle up in front of the roaring open fire.
Just two miles away, the village of Coldingham boasts two pubs, a small grocery store open seven days a week, a butcher and a post office with a coffee shop. Within easy walking distance of the cottage you will find Coldingham Loch, one of the finest trout fisheries in the Borders, the famous clifftop path between St Abbs and Cockburnspath, Fast Castle and Tun Law which is the highest Iron Age fort on the east coast mainland. Westerside also has three pre-historic settlements within the farm boundary.
Anyone wanting to get their fill of sea air won’t have far to travel. The famous sandy beach at Coldingham Bay and the picturesque village of St Abbs, which is popular with divers, are both less than four miles away. The nature reserve at St Abbs Head can be reached either by walking along the clifftops or parking near the village. Eyemouth, which is just five miles along the coast, is a busy fishing town with shops, restaurants, a museum and an eighteen hole golf course. Enjoy a stroll round the harbour followed by fish and chips on the beach.
Historic Berwick-upon-Tweed is twenty minutes to the south and Holy Island with its tidal causeway and the Northumbrian coast beckon a little further afield. A trip to the Farne Islands is rewarded by viewing both birdlife and a colony of seals. To the west are the famous Border towns, including Scott’s View, reached by driving through magnificent rolling countryside along quiet roads. To the north such delights as Tantallon Castle and the Museum of Flight in East Lothian await discovery and Edinburgh is merely an hour’s drive away.
