About 1 Pine Lodge

Pine Lodge is a private chalet in a peaceful location near Coldingham in the Scottish Borders. With space for up to four people to sleep in two bedrooms, it is ideal for couples, families or friends who want to enjoy the best of both the coast and the countryside with lots of welcoming touches that help guests to quickly settle in.

When people imagine their perfect beach holiday, they may think of Cornwall or Suffolk rather than this stretch of North Sea Coast. This is great news for anyone planning a stay in Coldingham as it means the beach never feels crowded. Rather, award-winning Coldingham Sands always has plenty of space for playing and picnics (or for simply relaxing away from people enjoying a game of beach-cricket!); while Coldingham Bay usually has decent conditions for surfing. If you love ocean views without the sand, then the Berwickshire Coastal Footpath takes walkers along the coast to Berwick-Upon-Tweed in the south or in the opposite direction to Cocksburnpath, past ancient ruins and through a nature reserve.

Pick up your provisions for your self-catering Borders holiday from Reston Provisions and Post Office which has a nice selection of home baking, local chocolate and crafts. Four miles away, Eyemouth has more places to eat and shop, or jump over the border to historic Berwick-on-Tweed for a relaxing day of browsing its independent shops and walking around the ramparts. Further afield, Edinburgh is about an hour's drive (or a little longer on the bus) from Pine Lodge, while Dunbar is 30 minutes to the north.

Pine Lodge is ideal as a base from which to explore the eastern part of the Scottish Borders and the beautiful coast. There are some lovely walks and bike rides in the area and, being Scotland, opportunities to play golf or fish are both within reach. The cottage's quiet setting amongst garden and woodland is just the place for rushed and harried people who want the chance to stop, unwind, relax and have fun.

Accommodation Comprises:

Pine Lodge is architect-designed and makes the most of its lovely setting amongst mature gardens and woodland. A welcome gift of homemade biscuits and wine greets guests on arrival, and there are lots of other extras to help guests settle in, like books, games and artistic touches.

  • Open plan living and dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors that open onto the verandah. The honey-coloured pine-clad walls make it feel cosy and warm on even the chilliest winter's day. The dining table comfortably seats up to six people and there is comfy seating for relaxing when watching the television.
  • Fitted kitchen equipped with self-catering in mind. Cupboards contain a good complement of utensils, cooking equipment, crockery, cutlery and basic ingredients such as olive oil, tea and spices. Keeping with the cottage's environmentally friendly footprint, the cleaning products are organic and natural.
  • Master bedroom with a handmade king-sized bed with a memory foam mattress. The throws and the cover for the hot water bottle (a must in Scotland during winter!) are hand-knitted, the duvet has a wool filling and the sheets are 100% cotton.
  • Second bedroom with a small double (4ft wide) antique bed as well as a chair that opens into a single bed.
  • Bathroom with a shower, WC and handbasin.

Outside: Pine Lodge has a covered verandah with comfortable seating. There is a chiminea/pizza oven close to the lodge, and a summerhouse at the end of the garden so you can sit with a drink and admire the lovely view from a different angle.

Additional Information: Sheets, towels and utilities are included. Short breaks are possible all year round, depending on availability. Smoking and pets are not permitted. Children are welcome but supervision is required for small children at all times when outside due to the stream in the garden.
