THE HIDEAWAY, BURNFOOT HOLIDAY COTTAGES, NORTHUMBERLAND

Brand new in 2022, The Hideaway is a luxury large group self-catering holiday cottage on the edge of Northumberland National Park, near Alnwick, Cragside, Hadrian’s Wall and Rothbury, as well as Bamburgh, Craster and Seahouses on Northumberland’s Heritage Coast.

Tucked away in the south-west corner of Burnfoot, this two-storey holiday cottage has south-facing views over a burn where kingfishers, egrets, deer and otters are regularly spotted. An ideal base for groups and family get-togethers in Northumberland.

Accommodation

DOWNSTAIRS

Light and airy double height entrance hall with large storage cupboard for boots and coats.

Huge open plan living and dining room with stunning views south through stone mullioned windows and a large, glazed door. The sitting area features vintage leather chesterfield sofas, a traditional stone inglenook fireplace, contemporary Danish wood burning stove, flat-screen television with Freeview, DVD player, and shelves of good books.

The dining area features an impressive oak table for 10 guests, and there are extra folding chairs and tables in the storage cupboard to enable much larger groups to dine together. The exceptionally well-equipped kitchen has a large range cooker and free-standing fridge freezer with integrated appliances, including dishwasher and washing machine, and microwave oven.

There is direct access from the kitchen to the fully enclosed walled garden.

Accessed from the other side of the entrance hall, is a very private ground floor bedroom wing with a spacious family bathroom. The first bedroom features a king size bed with oak furniture and an east-facing window for morning sun. The second bedroom has three single beds, again with oak furniture and an east-facing window.

UPSTAIRS

Bright landing lit by a conservation roof light.

To the right of the landing is a light airy family bedroom in the eaves with a king size bed and single bed.  It has a fitted wardrobe and oak furniture – with conservation roof lights granting lovely views of the burn and meadows beyond.

To the left of the landing is a compact shower room with basin and wc, and beyond that is an L-shaped twin bedroom in the eaves with two single beds, oak furniture and conservation rooflights facing north and south.

Some rooflights are above beds so you can lie back and star gaze in complete comfort (we’re in Europe’s largest dark sky park) but you can rest assured you won’t be woken early in the morning as all bedrooms have flush fitting blackout blinds in rooflights, and blackout curtains where there are windows.  All beds have pocket-sprung mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout this cottage for use with your own smart phone, tablet or laptop; and there is a travel cot, high chair and stair gate.

OUTSIDE

To the front, The Hideaway has three reserved car parking spaces directly outside the entrance.

To the rear is a large, fully-enclosed, garden surrounded by original stone walls with beautiful long-range valley views. Accessed directly from the living area, it has a large south facing terrace with furniture – the perfect place to enjoy sunshine throughout the day and into the evening.
