Self catering is a great option for family get-togethers and for groups of friends where you want the full run of the house and kitchen and prefer to make all your own meals.

 

You still have all the delightful features of staying in a luxury B&B – great beds, cotton bed linen, bathrobes, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries – so all you have to organise is the shopping.  As with any group booking Gerry will work with you to ensure that the five guest bedrooms are set up to fit with the needs of your group with exactly the right combination of superking and single beds. This flexibility means the house works equally well for groups of five individuals or couples who each need their own ensuite bedroom or for a group of 14 walkers and cyclists that all want single beds.

 

The kitchen is very well equipped for catering for a large group.  This includes four ovens, two hobs (gas and induction), a microwave, two fridges, freezer, wine fridge, dishwasher, Quooker boiling water tap, food mixer, blender & bread maker.  All crockery, glassware, cutlery, pans and utensils are provided.  The dining room can seat up to 14 people.  You may want to bring in a caterer or private chef for a special meal - we've included a list of local options here.

​The drawing room is well equipped for rainy days and lazy days with a smart TV with Netflix, a DVD player and Sonos blue tooth speaker.  A basket of logs is provided and you can help yourself to additional logs from the store in the car park.  

​

The welcome hamper provides some local goodies including a homemade cake, bread and Bank House marmalade or jam and organic apple juice from our allotment.

Shopping for food in Bishop’s Castle is very convenient.

• The Co-op is a good option for all the basics and is only 50 metres from the door and open from 7am to 10 pm every day (except Christmas Day).

• Our local butcher – Andrew Pugh – has a shop on Church Street.  All of their meat is locally sourced and they offer a wonderful cheese selection as well eggs, bread, vegetables and fruit.

• Jane’s Flowers and Gifts provides a good range of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as wonderful flowers.

• The local Spar is located at the filling station in Church Street.

• The regular local markets run at Lydham (just a mile out of town) on Friday or at Montgomery on Thursday and Saturday.

• Or if you book an online delivery this can be waiting for you when you arrive.

You can book the whole house on a self catering basis up to 14 people (inc. children) for a minimum of two nights.  Longer minimum stays apply over bank holiday weekends and Christmas/ New Year (it’s advisable to book well ahead for these holidays).

​
