About Old Dairy Cottage

The Old Dairy is a relaxing and tranquil cottage in the heart of the rural Pewsey Vale, Wiltshire.
Renovated in mid 2021 the property is located on the edge of the small family run horse yard, part of the working farm, and about 100 yards around the corner from our small and exclusive caravan site limited to 5 campers or less (Perfect if you want to holiday with family who have a caravan). There is ample off road parking for several vehicles and is completely self contained. In front of the cottage there is a small hard standing for evening entertainment and across the drive there is a large enclosed grass picnic area.

Our bright kitchen dining room awaits to elevate your self-catering experience with a touch of luxury. Designed with your comfort in mind, this space is perfect for indulging in a sumptuous breakfast, with plenty of room for preparation to start your day on a high note. Fully equipped with a modern cooker, kettle, toaster, and the added convenience of a washing machine/tumble dryer and dishwasher, it's tailored to meet all your needs. The dining table, seating four, serves as the ideal spot for spreading out maps and planning your day's adventures. Here, amidst the warm hospitality and cozy ambiance, you'll find the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and practicality, making every meal an opportunity to gather, plan, and dream about the adventures that lie ahead in the gateway to Wiltshire's captivating landscapes

Our Self Catering Cottage has been refurbed to bring in a modern kitchen and facilities while retaining some if its original features. The Old Dairy's Well has been glassed over and now features as the living room coffee table, the old fireplace now sports a realistic electric log burner allowing guest to bring warm the atmosphere with firelight and/or additional heating.

Pets are welcome on the ground floor of the property (a small additional cleaning fee applies). There is off road walking from the door of the property and the picnic area opposite is fenced. There are several dog friendly pub's / Cafe's within a few miles offering opportunities for a quick refreshment while walking! The Kennet and Avon canal towpath is a few hundred yards from the property and is great for walking or cycling on mostly level ground.

Where to Explore in the Local Area

Walking and Cycling


Residents can walk/cycle 2 minutes to the Kennet and Avon cannel without any road work. The towpath offers excellent connections to a network of villages, pubs and cafe's. The Kings Arms pub - All Cannings is approx. 45 mins walk, The Barge and Honeystreet Mill Café are approx. 30 mins.

Historic Attractions


The area is rich in historic features; West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury hill - 15 minutes drive, Adams Grave and Ryebury earthwork hillforts are a long walk away, Stonehenge , Old Sarum and Salisbury Cathedral - 50 minutes drive. Devizes Museum and Marlborough Merchant House are fantastic trips in time.

Wildlife


Pewsey Downs National Nature Reserve is 5 mins drive up a farm track, the reserve offers sightings of rare orchids, butterflies and other wildlife. Corn Buntings, Yellow Hammers, Tree Sparrows, Buzzareds, Kestrels as well as a multitude of other bird species are regularly observed on the farm as well as the expected ground based species.

Owner Interaction

We live about a minute away from the property, we send instructions for accessing the property in advance and usually allow you to settle into the property on your own. We are available on the phone for any support or advice you may require and may stop for a quick chat if we are passing. But will otherwise leave you to relax on holiday unless you ask us to pop round.

Parking:


There is ample parking at the property for up to 3 vehicles.

Buses


There is a local bus service which runs between Pewsey and Devizes (Bus 101/102) where connections to other bus services are available. This service has to be booked prior to travel otherwise the bus will bypass the village.

Trains


The nearest train station is Pewsey (approx. 6 miles) for London Paddington and the Southwest (Plymouth). The alternative is Swindon (approx. 20 miles) for London Paddington, Bristol, Wales and the Southwest. Swindon has a taxi rank outside while pewsey will require prior booking from a Taxi service (try Devizes taxis or Cobra Cabs).
