Your Hosts, Vikki and Gill welcome you to Pippins Self-Catering Holiday Cottage, a converted granary adjacent to our 17th century Grade II listed home in rural Mid Wales.
Pippins is a comfortable and cosy self-catering cottage. It is ideal for nature-lovers, walkers or for anyone who wants to take time out from busy and stressful lives in order to relax.
Situated in Mid-Wales, a few miles from Llandrindod Wells, this “upside-down” barn conversion offers stunning views over the Welsh countryside, in addition to historical sites, wildlife and country walks straight from the door.
Our wildlife cameras regularly capture badgers during the night, and in the warmer months bats will take flight as dusk begins to fall. Red Kites and Buzzards are always around and there will be the opportunity to see many other birds on our feeders, particularly in winter. Wildlife can be spotted on and around the River Ithon, for instance Kingfishers, Dippers and Otters.
Overlooking Pippins is Castle Bank the site of the ruined medieval Cefnllys Castle. At the foot of Castle Bank near the River Ithon lies the isolated church of St Michael’s, believed to date back to the 13th century. From Pippins’ front gate there is direct access to the Heart of Wales Line Walking Trail which weaves between stations along the line. This Public Right of Way takes you down the hill to St Michael’s Church, the River Ithon and beyond.
Pippins is approximately 30 minutes by car to the Elan Valley, renowned for its magnificent scenery and wildlife. Along with this there are many walks and trails and over 80 miles of designated rights of way. Furthermore it has International Dark Sky Park status and because of this the entire 45,000 acres are now protected from light pollution.
