SEE & DO

THINGS TO DO

Hiking

You are in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park with some breathtaking walks both from the Barn and a short drive away - including the highest peak in south Wales, Pen y Fan at 886 metres above sea-level.

Cultural Sites

Within easy reach there are numerous places to visit including the cathedral town of Brecon, Blaenavon World Heritage Site, Dan-yr-Ogof Caves, Carreg Cennen Castle, Craig y Nos Country Park and the nearby picturesque waterfalls.

The Area

Brecon is a  small market town with some nice independent shops and galleries.  There are two museums, a theatre, and a 1930s cinema, indoor market and a good selection of pubs and restaurants. The surrounding area is home to the highest mountains in Southern Britain whilst the famous River Usk runs along the valley floor.

Leisure Activities

Please do ask us about other activities in the area, for all weather conditions. We can recommend anything from Donkey Walks with 'Good Day Out,' to a relaxing massage at one of the nearby spa hotels.

Birds and wild life

If you are interested in the local birds  and wild life- of which we have Red Kites, Buzzards and owls to name a few - please chat with David.

Horse Riding

We think some of the  best ways to explore some of the more mountainous terrain is from the back of a horse! Please do get in touch if you would like to book some local horse riding.
