Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

This part of rural North Yorkshire is home to some of the best houses and gardens in the country including the home of Brideshead Revisited Castle Howard, whose event program runs throughout the year. Their Christmas experience and proms spectacular are an absolute must on any holiday itinerary. Yorkshire Lavender provides a wonderful assault on the senses. The area around the cottage is dotted with bustling market towns and quaint Yorkshire villages. Yorkshire’s ‘foody capital’ Malton is only a short drive away. Famous for its local produce and many eateries as well as an excellent farmers market. Helmsley, the jewel in North Yorkshire’s crown, and the small market towns of Easingwold and Thirsk are also within a short driving distance. For those wishing to enjoy a little retail therapy, why not enjoy a day in the historic city of York which is only a 30-minute drive from the cottage with its medieval streets and world renowned visitor attractions including York Minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre, the Railway Museum, The Castle Museum, the City Walls and other attractions. Access to The North York Moors National Park could not be easier and with miles of cycle routes and public footpaths and bridleways, the cottages are an ideal place to explore this stunning area.
