Nestled behind a beautiful, grade II listed, Georgian country farmhouse, the Fold Yard enjoys an idyllic rural location on the edge of the Howardian Hills area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage is managed, cleaned and looked after entirely by the owners Jose and Chris, ensuring that guests receive a warm, friendly and personal service throughout their stay.
Full of rustic charm and character, with exposed beams and traditional features throughout, the cottage offers a relaxing, home from home that sleeps up to 4 people in two double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms are at ground floor level making it easily accessible and small/medium sized dogs are welcome.
Whether for a short break or a longer stay, the cottage is ideally located for exploring the many attractions and stunning countryside that North Yorkshire has to offer, whatever your interests.
For walkers and cyclists there are an abundance of excellent trails for all abilities across picturesque dales, beautiful moors, and scenic coastlines. For garden lovers this area is home to some of the country’s most glorious gardens including Castle Howard, Scampston Hall and RHS Harlow Carr, while the casual visitor is spoilt for things to see and do, such as sightseeing in historic York, visiting majestic stately homes, ancient abbeys and charming market towns, or savouring the delights of award-winning eateries that abound across the region.

ACCOMMODATION
The cottage is open plan and on the same level, with underfloor heating, making this a fantastic cottage for relaxing in comfort and an ideal base for exploring the area.
The well-equipped kitchen boasts an electric oven, induction hob, microwave and under-counter fridge with freezer compartment. After a tiring day out in the countryside, relax and unwind by curling up on the comfy sofa or armchairs to watch TV, listen to music or catch up online using the free WiFi provided.
The light and spacious master bedroom has a cast iron king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower. The charming second bedroom, also en-suite with bath and shower over, has a king size ‘zip and link’ bed which can be made up as twin singles on request. Beds are dressed in Egyptian cotton linen and both bedrooms benefit from patio doors that open directly onto the pretty and private cobbled courtyard, where you can enjoy sunny mornings and balmy evenings dining ‘al fresco’.
A separate boot room adjoins the cottage which is ideal for drying muddy boots after an energetic day in the countryside, and is equipped with washing machine, drying rack, sink and WC.
For cyclists, we have a covered bike storage facility on request. Well-behaved, small/medium sized dogs are welcome by arrangement.

THE FOLD YARD RESTORATION
The Fold Yard was originally a group of barns and outbuildings dating back to the mid-19th Century. The buildings served the former Cornborough Hall Farm and were used to house sheep and cattle during the winter months.
The barns retained many original features such as traditional roof trusses, wooden beams, ventilation slots and even chains nailed into the walls for the tethering livestock.
During the conversion into contemporary style accommodation, we were keen to retain its rustic character and charm by ‘giving the nod’ to as many of these traditional features as we could.
