Dorset Croft is a picture-perfect stone cottage topped with traditional thatch. Set in the rolling Dorset countryside close to Beaminster, guests have the convenience of being only half a mile from the welcoming New Inn pub in Stoke Abbott with immediate access to fantastic footpaths and bike rides from the door. The large one-bedroom annexe is attached to the owner's home with no other immediate neighbours. It is entirely private and self-contained, so it is perfect for couples or solo travellers, including those who want to bring their dogs.
Stoke Abbott is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers plenty to visitors at any time of the year. The Jubilee Trail footpath passes the property as it winds its way through historic villages, across the downs and through hidden valleys. The footpath leads to Pilsdon Pen and Lewesdon Hill, rewarding hikers with panoramic views that will take their breath away. The footpath also links up with the South West Coast Path where there are excellent day and shorter walks to stunning view points such as Golden Cap passing through meadows and providing fantastic views of the Jurassic Coast along the way. Cyclists are also well catered for, with many visitors and locals making good use of the picturesque 16-mile Tour de Manche route between Bridport and Axminster. There is a wide variety of mountain bike trails and road routes, with the cottage providing facilities to clean and store bikes securely.
You may be relaxed, but you won't be bored when you stay at Dorset Croft, with fun and adventure to be found in any weather. Day trips can include exploring the Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site and fossil hunting on beaches like nearby West Bay, Lyme Regis, and Charmouth. Beaminster and Bridport are ideal for picking up provisions for your self-catering holiday or make the most of the local farm shops, vineyards and cider farms to experience the true flavour of Dorset. Local attractions include the Abbotsbury Swannery, Mapperton House, and the Beaminster Museum. You can also take to the water on an exhilarating Lyme Regis RIB Charter tour or a more sedate self-guided canoe trip, play golf and go fishing.
Dorset Croft provides a warm welcome all year round. Whether you're escaping for a short break or have time to stay longer, you'll easily settle in and feel right at home.

Accommodation Comprises:
Dorset Croft is a semi-detached annexe to the owner's property. It is surrounded by countryside, with no other immediate neighbours. It has recently been fully refurbished to provide a high standard of accommodation with period character. Accommodation is on the first floor, with the cottage having its own private entrance and allocated parking.
Outside: The rooftop terrace has a table and chairs where guests can relax in the sunshine from first thing in the morning until the afternoon. There is also a dedicated barbecue area with picnic bench (pizza oven also available for guest use!) which looks out over the valley and is a wonderful spot to enjoy a barbecue or pizza in the sunshine with a glass of wine as the sun sets. If you are lucky you may see swallows feeding over the ponds during the day or deer and owls coming out at dusk - a truly magical sight! There is a hose for washing down bikes, boots and dogs, and secure bike storage. Guests also have allocated off-street parking.
Additional Information: All utilities, bed linen, bath towels and WiFi are provided. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior agreement, and a dog bed is available if required. Short breaks (minimum of three nights) are possible all year round, depending on availability. Smoking and vaping are not permitted and sorry but no naked flames due to the property having a low thatched roof. For this reason, barbecues are allowed in the dedicated area only.
