About The Garden Flat

The Garden Flat is a charming holiday rental in Crieff, within walking distance of the River Earn, shops, cafes, the Strathearn Community Campus sports centre with swimming pool and welcoming bars and pubs like The Meadow Inn. The first-floor apartment sleeps two people in two bedrooms and has a flexible bedroom layout that can suit couples, families or friends. It's a wonderful home-away-from-home where you can relax and enjoy the space and privacy of self-catering whilst being centrally placed in Scotland to reach both the main Highlands to the north, as well as the east and west coasts offering world-class golf courses, fantastic walks, and a wealth of historic buildings.

There are few market towns with a past as chequered as Crieff's. Perthshire's second-biggest town was a regular haunt of the infamous folk hero, Rob Roy, and it suffered extensive fire damage in 1716. In 1746, the Drummond Arms on James Square was a meeting place for Bonnie Prince Charlie and his generals during the Jacobite uprising. Thankfully, the atmosphere in Crieff is now vibrant rather than violent, and you can enjoy shopping in peace. Attractions include nearby Drummond Castle Gardens which are spectacular, the Caithness Glass Visitor Centre, and the Glenturret Distillery, where whisky drinkers can partake in a dram or two.

Many visitors to Crieff come for the many excellent golfing opportunities. Play 18 holes at Crieff or 9 holes at Comrie. Gleneagles is only ten miles from The Garden Flat, while courses at Perth and Stirling are just 18 and 22 miles. Fly fishing is another popular activity. Try your luck catching local salmon in Kinkell Bridge, a short drive from Crieff, or head to the shallow waters of Drummond Loch for brown trout. Loch Turret, whose water is used to distil Glenturret whisky, is also a choice spot for brown trout.

Walking and mountain biking are both excellent ways to enjoy the breathtaking beauty and scope of the landscape around Crieff. The Lochearnhead Watersports Centre on Loch Earn has a great choice of watersports, including SUP and wake-boarding, with equipment hire and lessons available.

The Garden Flat is perfect whether you're someone who plans to spend every day outdoors and being active, or you would rather potter around the region's towns and villages, stopping off at castles, battlefields and tea rooms and generally enjoying the relaxed atmosphere that makes Perthshire a superb year-round holiday destination.
