About The Old School House

This spacious character holiday home dates as far back as the 1800’s and still has a wealth of lovely original features which include original exposed beams. With beds accommodating thirteen guests, this former school house lends itself best to parties of twelve and is perfect for a self-catering family holiday. The property sits amongst five acres of grounds which provide a natural oasis including a meadow, pond and stream which add to the tranquility (they are both unfenced so children must be supervised). The Old School House is welcoming and homely with a rustic traditional feel, rather than modern stylish elegance and is a practical base for exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast and enjoying all this appealing seaside location has to offer.

The Old School House is situated in the hamlet of Walton West, ten minutes walk from each of the villages of Little Haven and Broad Haven, with their delightful sandy beaches, charming pubs and wide range of restaurants and cafes. Broad Haven also has a number of shops including a small supermarket and kayak/windsurfing/wetsuit hire allowing you to enjoy the fantastic watersports available locally. Sailing and water sports tuition is also available at nearby Dale.

Sitting within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, guests can enjoy spectacular scenery and a wide diversity of activities. There are innumerable beautiful beaches of different characters, within easy reach. Some, such as Newgale, are great for surfing while others are more suitable for lazy days of rock pool exploration and building sandcastles.

There are fantastic walking opportunities along the coast and the Preselli Mountains and interesting towns and villages, such as St Davids, Tenby and Solva with shops to browse and explore. Several excellent golf courses can be found in the locality including Milford Haven, Haverfordwest and the Tenby Championship course and horse riding is available locally including beach rides.

Accommodation is traditional and comprises:

Downstairs

Huge living room with a 42 inch television and DVD player, along with shelves of books and board games and a healthy collection of DVDs.
Second, smaller sitting room with a radio/CD player/iPod docking station - the perfect place to escape for a quiet moment!
Games room with a pool table and darts board.
Dining room which can seat twelve guests on two tables (one seating eight and the other six).
Newly refurbished kitchen with fridge freezer, five ring hob double oven cooker, drinks fridge, washing machine (tumble dryer also available in a shed outside), dishwasher and microwave.
Conservatory.
Large downstairs triple bedroom with a double and a single bed and en-suite marble tiled bath/shower room.

Upstairs in the oldest part of the house

Double bedroom with king sized bed.
Single bedroom.
Beautiful bath/shower room with double ended modern bath and large overhead power shower.

Upstairs in the newer part of the house

Twin bedroom.
Dormitory style sleeping with five single beds, a small area for sitting with gorgeous views out to sea.
Two shower rooms, each having a hand basin, WC and electric shower.

Outside: A courtyard provides a nice place for sitting out with seating for twelve and a fire pit BBQ. The grounds offer plenty of space for relaxing and playing with a woodland area, pond, meadow and stream (please note that children need to be supervised when near the stream and pond as they are not fenced). Off-road parking for several cars.

Additional information: Short breaks may be available, please enquire. No smoking inside the property. Pets, please enquire. Single sex groups, please enquire. Price includes bed linen and bath towels (please bring your own beach towels). Wi-Fi broadband available. 2 travel cots available for larger parties, as well as normal beds for thirteen guests, however, generally there are only comfortable facilities for twelve.
