West Side Barn sleeps four to five guests and nestles in an idyllic setting within the Peak District National Park amongst spectacular scenery. Whether you are looking for a walking holiday, touring base to discover the Peak District's many attractions or a retreat to simply relax with friends and family, this cosy barn conversion assures a warm welcome.
With plenty of outside space to relax in the warmer months (where you can soak up the stunning views across the Manifold River Valley!) and log burner for winter breaks, the barn has all year round appeal. It's popular with walkers and cyclists who want to explore the Manifold Trail, stunning countryside and ancient towns and villages of the Peaks.
The Peak District National Park is the most regularly visited of all our national parks in the UK and it is hardly surprising given the extensive opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and attractions on offer. Steeped in history, some of the country's finest country houses and gardens are just waiting to be visited such as magnificent Chatsworth House. Visit the popular towns of Matlock Bath, Ashbourne, Buxton, Leek and Bakewell; the Potteries including Denby and Wedgwood; or visit Alton Towers which is sure to be a holiday highlight for younger ones.
West Side Barn sits on the outskirts of Hulme End, a small Staffordshire hamlet close to the pretty village of Hartington. There is a pub (the Manifold Inn) in the village which is a short walk from the barn, along with a Visitor Centre (with info to help you plan your holiday) and cafe at the beginning of the Manifold Trail at the old railway station - the perfect place to fuel up before you set off along the nine mile disused railway line on your bike or foot. Also close by is the Tissington Trail (thirteen miles of picturesque cycling, horse riding or walking), the dales of Beresford and Wolfscote and also Dovedale and Milldale providing endless tracks and trails to explore.
Hulme End is a very good base for exploring both the White and Dark Peak areas, along with the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands.
