Hog Cottage sleeps four guests and is steeped in history and was once a mill cottage, for workers at a local Hat Factory. Only a stroll away from the Derybshire market town of Wirksworth, guests have a good range of amenities within easy reach including shops, restaurants and pubs. The popular attractions of Carsington Water (a huge reservoir offering a range of water sports), Tissington walking and cycling trail and the Midshires long distance path are nearby offering most forms out outdoor activities.
One of the areas oldest market towns, Wirksworth is full of heritage and character with its historic buildings centered around its splendid market place which has been holding markets since as far back as 1306.
Set high in the hills, overlooking the historical market town of Wirksworth, Hog cottage has an idyllic setting and is a great base for exploring the areas many attractions.
You won’t be stuck for things to do and places to visit as you can discover Bakewell, the Heights of Abraham, breathtaking views of Calver Edge, wonderful waterfall at Monsal Dale and just a short drive away you can explore Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Travel a little further and visit Castleton and Blue John Mines. If walking, cycling and sailing are your favourite pastimes then Hog Cottage is an ideal retreat for you.

Outside: A garden with patio tables, chairs and BBQ provides a sunny place to sit outside and enjoy the warmer months.
Additional information: Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (only dogs, sorry but no other pets). Short breaks (three night minimum) available, please enquire. Bed linen, towels, heating, electricity are included in the price. Please note: an additional admin fee is applied to bookings.
Access to the cottage: The location of Hog Cottage is unique and as such, access to the road the cottage sits on is very narrow and steep. One car can be parked outside Hog Cottage on the lane but should the hill be a challenge to guests, additional parking is available close by on Gorsey Bank at the bottom of the hill.
