Wisteria Cottage is perfect for couples or small families and sleeps three people in two bedrooms plus a baby in a cot. Providing the perfect blend of traditional character with modern conveniences, the terrace cottage is the end in a row, and conveniently placed within easy walking distance of the many amenities of the Oxfordshire town of Watlington.
Reported to be the country's smallest town, Watlington offers a good choice of shops for provisions and pubs for a meal out. Centrally placed in the country it has a wealth of attractions in both Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire within easy reach, as well as great days out slightly further afield in the Cotswolds.
Watlington has a long history dating back before the 8th Century and sits on the edge of the Chiltern Hills AONB and within easy reach of the North Wessex Downs AONB. There are endless opportunities for those who enjoy walking, cycling and being outdoors as well as nature reserves for wildlife enthusiasts, country houses, glorious gardens, sleepy villages like Turville and ancient market towns to explore.
Spend your days exploring the stunning landscape of The Chilterns with plenty to occupy photographers, bird watchers and those who like to keep active with the Chiltern Way, South Oxfordshire Way and The Ridgeway all easily accessible. Enjoy days by (or on) the River Thames, accessible at Henley, Windsor, Marlow or Wallingford. For those who enjoy historic houses and gardens, a trip to the Tudor mansion of Greys Court (National Trust), Mapledurham House with its riverside setting close to Wallingford, and Stonor Park (the country's oldest manor house near Henley) are a must, as are the historic Abbeys of Abingdon and Dorchester.
Head to the city of Oxford, Windsor with its beautiful castle and Great Park, visit one of the areas many museums or treat the younger ones to a day at Lego Land. The choices are endless with plenty to keep all ages occupied.
Alternatively, relax and enjoy everything Wisteria Cottage has on the doorstep. Visit the nearby National Nature Reserve of Aston Rowant and keep your eye out for butterflies and red kites soaring up above; or stroll around the town and admire the impressive architecture, browse the shops and have a long lazy lunch in one of the pubs.
With log burner for winter breaks and a pretty enclosed garden where you can relax at the end of the day watching the Red Kites over a glass of wine (or similar), Wisteria Cottage is an excellent all year round base for exploring Central England.
