Water’s Edge is a wonderful apartment on the ground floor of a converted Grade II listed boathouse on the banks of the River Thames. With three bedrooms, Water's Edge can sleep up to six guests and is ideal for couples, families or friends who want a relaxing riverside holiday. You could not ask for a better location as it is just a five-minute walk to Henley’s excellent shops, cafes, and bars like The Bull on Bell Street and The Catherine Wheel.
Henley-on-Thames, home of the famous annual Regatta, feels like a country market town yet is conveniently close to London, Oxford and Windsor. There is a wealth of history to discover, and one of the best ways to start is by downloading a map, or collecting one from the Tourist Information Centre in the Town Hall, and walking the Henley Trail which leads you around the town’s buildings and landmarks. Rowing has long been synonymous with this stretch of the Thames, and there is an excellent River and Rowing Museum for those who are interested in finding out more about the sport’s links with the area. Famous Henley residents include Beatle George Harrison, whose Friar Park Estate, Water’s Edge belonged to; TV presenter Richard Schofield, and the singer Dusty Springfield, who has a marker in the churchyard at St Mary’s.
Walking is a favourite pastime for many locals and visitors to Henley. From a stroll along the river to the more strenuous but beautiful nine mile walk to Marlow, or a long walk in the nearby Chiltern Hills, there are endless possibilities to suit everyone regardless of their fitness or physical ability.
There is a direct train from Henley to London’s Paddington station which takes around an hour, the same time as the train journey to Windsor, while the train to Oxford takes around ninety minutes. There is ample to keep you happily occupied in and around Henley-on-Thames, but its central location to other beautiful towns and cities gives you endless opportunities for shopping, sightseeing, eating at world-famous restaurants, and having an exciting nightlife.
Water’s Edge is the perfect holiday cottage whether you are spending a peaceful week away from work or you just need somewhere to escape to for a long weekend. Its proximity to London and Heathrow Airport makes it easy to reach either by car or public transport, and its location on a quiet cul-de-sac means your morning breakfast on the waterfront deck will be interrupted by nothing more annoying than a few greedy ducks.
