The Hollies sleeps up to six guests in four bedrooms and is perfectly placed for exploring the many attractions of Central England. Sitting in the historic Oxfordshire market town of Thame, there are a wealth of attractions within easy reach including the dreamy spires of Oxford's city centre and the honey-coloured villages and towns of the Cotswolds just waiting to be discovered.
Well appointed throughout with homely accommodation, The Hollies offers a comfy retreat at any time of the year with ground floor living (plus two bedrooms upstairs) suitable for those with limited mobility.
Stroll into Thame (it takes just three minutes) and enjoy everything on the doorstep including a great choice of pubs and restaurants for a meal out, shops for provisions, swimming pool and leisure centre, small theatre, and a weekly market every Tuesday for picking up fresh local produce. Thame's attractive high street has been well used in the filming of Midsomer Murders and you can follow in the footsteps of 'Inspector Barnaby' with a guided tour available from Thame Museum - a fascinating place to visit where you can step back in time and find out about the areas historic greats such as John Hampden. The town also has a calendar with plenty of events throughout the year (not forgetting the world famous Art in Action which takes place nearby during July), and a train station on the outskirts providing quick access into London (just forty minutes!) for those who fancy a day in the one of the finest cities in the world.
Leave the car back at the cottage and take the bus from Thame to Aylesbury or Oxford city centre. Alternatively, drive to Bicester Village Outlet for some retail therapy with plenty of designer bargains to be had (only a half hour drive)! Other popular attractions include Blenheim Palace (the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill), the Cotswolds Wildlife Park, the National Trust properties of Waddesdon and Hughendon Manor and for a gastro experience, Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir (just five minutes away but be sure to book well in advance). Windsor, Henley-on-Thames (with its famous regatta) and Legoland are also easy to reach and approximately an hour by car.
Sitting close to the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the surrounding countryside offers plenty of opportunities for those who want a rest from sightseeing. Discover the beauty of the surrounding area by bike or foot, enjoy a game of golf at Waterstock and the Magnolia Country Club or shoot some clays at Jericho Farm.
The area offers a taste of quintessential English life with beautiful countryside to discover and an abundance of attractions for days out.
