South View is a pretty stone cottage located in the heart of the seaside town of Amble in Northumberland. Refurbished and tastefully decorated throughout, the cottage blends character and charm with top quality fixtures and modern day comforts. Sleeping four guests in a king size and twin bedroom it is ideal for families and friends, but also cosy enough for couples to feel at home too. It's just a short walk across the green to the dog-friendly beach, or head in the other direction to the harbour and pastel painted beach huts. The modern kitchen makes self-catering easy, or enjoy a night off cooking at one of the many restaurants and pubs on your doorstep.
Sitting on the edge of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the small fishing town of Amble has everything you need for a happy holiday by the sea. Just a two minute walk from the cottage you will find a large beach as well as River Coquet, perfect for watersports such as surfing, paddleboarding or kayaking, or simply pottering around in the rock pools at low tide. From the beach you can see the RSPB nature reserve at Coquet Island. If you want a closer look you can take a boat trip from the harbour around the island where you can often see puffins, rare roseate terns and seals sunbathing on the rocks. Once you have returned to dry land enjoy sampling the tasty delights from the seafood shacks or enjoy the catch of the day at the popular Old Boat House Fishshack or The Fat Mermaid bistro.
If you are looking for a change of scenery you can swap your flip flops for cycling shorts or walking boots and explore the Northumberland countryside. It is an easy two mile walk along the River Coquet to the village of Warkworth with it's medieval castle or head to the vast and stunning landscape of the Northumberland National Park. Alternatively head north and visit the castles in the coastal towns of Alnwick and Bamburgh or south to the lakes and woodland of Druridge Bay Country Park. The Coastal Route (by car) takes visitors through Warkworth, Alnmouth, Craster, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and many other wonderful coastal towns. Other day trips include the estate and gardens at the National Trust Craigside, Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum, exploring a stretch of the Coastal Path or enjoying a round of golf. Whether you want to walk, cycle or explore the fascinating history and heritage of the area, there is plenty to keep everyone of all ages entertained here.
