About Number Twenty Eight

Number Twenty Eight, Craster is a beautifully renovated three bedroomed semi detached coastal cottage, ideally located in the quaint, peaceful Northumberland fishing village of Craster. Famed for its kipper smokehouse, Craster is the perfect seaside holiday destination with a picturesque harbour, good choice of places for a meal out, and access to the iconic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle.

Beautifully presented to a high degree of style throughout, this cosy coastal retreat affords glimpses of the sea from nearly every window. Whilst it enjoys a more peaceful position at the quieter far end of the village, it is only a few minutes stroll from The Shoreline Cafe, The Jolly Fisherman Pub and Restaurant, Craster Seafood Restaurant and Mick Oxley’s Art Gallery.

Perfect for families, friends and also couples who want to explore this beautiful and interesting part of Northumberland, Number Twenty Eight, Craster has an incredibly social open-plan living area on the ground floor with space to relax, cook and dine in style. It has three double bedrooms (plus a family bathroom) on the first floor sleeping up to six guests and plenty of outside living space to enjoy the summer sunshine.

Craster is a good base for exploring and provides a gateway to the Northumberland Coastal Pathway which to the north, leads to Dunstanburgh Castle, the beautiful golden sands of Embleton Bay, Newton by the Sea, Beadnell, Seahouses, the Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle and Beach, Budle Bay, the stunning Holy Island and Lindisfarne Priory. To the south, the pathway, which is situated just yards away from Number Twenty Eight, leads to the Bathing House, Howick Hall, Boulmer, Alnmouth, Warkworth Castle and Beach, Amble and beyond.

The county of Northumberland offers a fine selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, beautiful sandy beaches, numerous golf courses, forests (Kielder Forest) and woods (Thrunton); together with the historic market towns of Alnwick which is home to the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens, and Rothbury, home to the Cragside House and Estate.

Number Twenty Eight, Craster is a comfortable base to enjoy your holiday as a couple, family or with friends. This magnificent stretch of the Northumberland Heritage Coastline, which has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; is perfect for sea lovers, walkers, runners, cyclists, bird watchers, wildlife enthusiasts and explorers.

The accommodation is comfortable and the facilities include:

Ground floor

  • Open plan living room with multi-fuel stove for cosy nights in front of the fire, large triple sofa, arm chair, flat screen television and DVD player. This leads into...
  • Dining room with table seating six and patio doors that take you out to the large garden with patio and BBQ.
  • Kitchen with ceramic hob, fan assisted oven, microwave, fridge freezer and utility cupboard.
  • Study with flat screen television, two cosy chairs and library.
  • Cloak room with WC and wash basin, plus laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

First Floor

  • Three double bedrooms, two with large wardrobes and draws for clothes storage.
  • Family bathroom with WC, wash basin and bath with overhead shower.

Outside: There is a large garden at the front and back of the cottage. The rear garden has flower borders, garden furniture and a brick BBQ. There is off street parking for one vehicle only. Please note Craster is a residential village, as such parking is at a premium!

Additional information: Sorry but no dogs. Children welcome (travel cot and high chair available up on request - please bring your own bedding for the cot). Heating, wood (plus coal and kindling) for the multi fuel stove, bed linen and towels are included in the price. Lots of useful extras are provided including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, condiments, washing liquid, black bin liners, foil and cling film. There is no smoking in or on the property. Please note that there is no mobile phone signal in Craster, however there is unlimited access to the internet at the cottage and a landline telephone for contact or emergencies. There is no shop in the village but there is a local store four miles away and a supermarket seven miles away (who deliver online grocery orders).

Useful booking information: Arrival time is after 16:00 and guests are requested to leave by 10:00 on departure day. Please note only those guests detailed on the booking form are permitted to stay at the cottage. If additional guests are found to be staying at the cottage without the owner’s knowledge or consent, then the owner has the right to refuse access to the cottage and guests will regrettably be asked to leave. A refundable house keeping bond of £150.00 is required to be paid, prior to arrival.

Number Twenty Eight, Craster is available to rent weekly, for a mid-week break or a long weekend.
