Surrounded by tranquility and farmland, Lowfield Cottage is an excellent choice for those with a passion for countryside and being outdoors. Sleeping up to six guests in three bedrooms, this welcoming spacious cottage is well presented throughout and offers single level accommodation with exceptional views of the surrounding hills and up towards Thrunton Forest.
Located in a rural position and set within its own garden that offers a good degree of privacy, Lowfield Cottage provides an excellent base for exploring the many attractions of Northumberland and even the Scottish Borders for those happy to travel a little further afield.
The market town of Alnwick with its independent shops, eateries, impressive castle (recognisable by Harry Potter fans as 'Hogwarts'), and Alnwick Garden (with its unique Tree House restaurant) is only six miles from the cottage. Rothbury is also as close and another delightful 'village' set amidst the Coquet Valley, a walkers paradise and excellent base from which to explore the vast areas of the Cheviot Hills, Border Ridge and beyond to Scotland. With walks to enjoy along the river, shops to browse and the Cragside Estate (NT) to visit with its magnificent house, gardens and woodland, the Coquet Valley has immense appeal.
For those seeking sea air, Northumberland's glorious coastline is only twenty minutes away by car. Visit the picturesque coastal village of Alnmouth with its colourful houses, or travel just slightly further to Bamburgh with its magical castle by the sea overlooking the Farne Islands. Visit the little fishing village of Craster and pick up some smoked kippers for breakfast once you have visited Dunstanburgh Castle, or head to the bustling harbour of Seahouses where you can take a boat trip to see the puffin and seal colonies on Farne Island (and enjoy fish and chips in Seahouses afterwards by the sea before heading back to the cottage).
It is also possible to visit the Scottish Borders for a day trip as well as Edinburgh City centre by train via Almouth station. Alternatively, just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the setting surrounding Lowfield Cottage.
