Faith’s Cottage is a gorgeous dog-friendly stone cottage nestling in the peaceful Northumbrian countryside, ten miles from Morpeth, in the hamlet of Longwitton. With space for eight guests in four bedrooms and three stables on site, there is space for everyone in your family, even your favourite four-legged members (two dogs are welcome in the cottage and more can be accepted providing they are happy to live in the heated dog-kennel with run).
Northumberland is a fantastic holiday destination, particularly if you love being outside. The landscape is breathtaking with beautiful stretches of rugged countryside and golden sandy beaches. Faith’s Cottage is close to the Simonside Hills, nestled between the Northumberland National Park and the coast, with an excellent variety of footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes nearby. The beach is half an hour’s drive away with Druridge Bay, Cambois, Cresswell and Lynmouth Bay all being within 20 miles of the cottage. Kielder Water and Forest Park is less than an hour's drive, offering plenty of activities including family-friendly nature trails. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is also within reach but make sure you check the tide times as it is only accessible by boat or causeway.
Hadrian’s Wall is one of Northumberland’s biggest attractions and only approximately half an hour drive. Constructed in 122 CE to separate the Roman territory in England from the Pictish lands in Scotland, it is a magnificent ruin with a fascinating history. Chester’s Roman Fort and Museum in Chollerford is an excellent place to see the wall up close, as is the Housesteads Roman Fort and Museum at Haydon Bridge near Hexham, and there are the ruins of a Roman town at Corbridge.
The Metro Centre (for those who like shopping) and Alnwick Castle are around half an hour from Faith’s Cottage. Alnwick Castle was well known even before it was used to portray Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, and later in Downton Abbey, and has been owned by the Percy family for over 700 years. It’s an excellent attraction offering a full day of fun for the whole family. Alnwick is a charming market town with a great choice of shops, museums, galleries and places to eat. Slightly further afield are Warkworth Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle and Bamburgh Castle.
Faith’s Cottage is the perfect holiday cottage in Northumberland, providing a high standard of accommodation that warmly welcomes families, dogs and horses. Centrally located, the cottage makes it easy to relax and enjoy all of the best Northumberland attractions.
