About Primrose Cottage

Primrose Cottage is a delightful Grade II Listed stone holiday cottage that sleeps three guests and is located a few minutes walk away from Pickering town centre in the North York Moors. The cottage has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard whilst retaining some of its original charm with beams, wooden floors and an open fire, complimented by tasteful furnishings and a lovely homely feel.

Pickering is an ancient market town and is the official gateway to the North York Moors National Park. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it attracts walkers, cyclists and holiday makers alike. It is also easily accessible to the Yorkshire Coast where you can visit Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Robin Hoods Bay - all of which are within forty five minutes drive away.

This bustling market town has an abundance of coffee shops, restaurants and bistros, some with an intimate feel and all within walking distance from the cottage. Browse the many gift and antique shops and taste the local homemade produce and delicacies found in abundance in the specialist shops.

Pickering is surrounded by the vast expanse of heather covered rolling moorland, mature forests and the beautiful Yorkshire Coast. Here you will find stately homes, picturesque villages and ancient churches just waiting to be explored. It is also a perfect location from which to explore the wider area beyond.

Within the local area you will find the Great Yorkshire Forests of Dalby Forest (with miles of tracks and cycle trails along with GoApe for a treetop adventure), and Cropton Forest, along with popular visitor attractions including: The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway which provides a nostalgic leisurely way of soaking up the stunning scenery between Pickering to Grosmont; The Beck Isle Museum in Pickering which allows you to get a taste of rural life and local history (take a picnic and enjoy the riverside setting); the nearby market towns of Malton, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside; Flamingo Land; Eden Camp; Castle Howard and Duncombe Park to name just a few. Some of Yorkshire’s prettiest villages such as Hutton Le Hole, Goathland and Thornton Le Dale are also just a short drive away and for those happy to venture further afield, the ancient city of York is just over half an hour by car.
