Affording a riverside position in the tranquil Southern Broads, this comfortable single level cottage offers the chance to enjoy a waterside break with the use of a rowing boat to get out and about on the waterways (day boat hire can be arranged locally). Sleeping up to four guests in two bedrooms, the cottage sits opposite the Nature Reserve of Surlingham Broad and has direct access out onto the River Yare.
Offering the best of both worlds, the setting provides all the right ingredients to relax and unwind, yet it is under half an hour by car from the bustling historic City of Norwich. Spend your days sitting in the garden spotting birds, fishing, capturing the beauty of the river with a camera lens or paint brush or getting out and about exploring the magical waterways. Then by night stroll along to The Yare pub (ten minutes by foot) for supper or row across to Coldham Hall. Alternatively, stay put and enjoy an alfresco meal in your very own riverside garden (lighting is provided for sitting out and fishing by night).
Norwich with its fantastic shops, restaurants and abundance of attractions is within easy driving or cruising distance. The riverside village of Brundall is only fifteen minute's walk away with two supermarkets, takeaways, the Ram public house, garage and The Lavender House Restaurant and Cookery School. Brundall has a railway station with regular trains taking you into Norwich and Great Yarmouth for a day by the sea. You can also drive to Norfolk's stunning coast and be enjoying glorious sandy beaches and wonderful wildlife within just half an hour.
Head down the river in a day boat to the little market town of Loddon or the pretty village of Reedham, or up river to Whittlingham Country Park and Norwich with riverside pubs along the way for refreshment. The popular tourist hot spots of Potter Heigham and Wroxham are also within easy reach by car (twenty to thirty minutes) as is Strumpshaw Steam Museum and the RSPB Nature Reserve of Stumpshaw Fen (only three miles). For the little ones, a fun-filled day at Pettitts Animal Adventure Park or Thringby Hall Wildlife Gardens are sure to be holiday highlights.
For those who like to keep active whilst away, hire a canoe or kayak and discover the smaller quieter less navigable waterways; or lace up your walking boots and explore the long distance paths of Wherrymans or Weavers Way. There are also quiet leafy lanes and cycle routes that make cycling a joy.
