Midthatch is a traditional thatched self-catering cottage in the beautiful North Norfolk village of Sea Palling. The area feels both rural and coastal, and the house backs onto a field leading to dunes bordering the Blue Flag beach. The mid-terrace property started life in the 1700s as a fisherman's cottage, later becoming a bakery before a domestic dwelling. Midthatch is a charming holiday home that sleeps five people in two inter-connecting bedrooms with modern conveniences complementing original features. It's perfect for couples or families.
There's nothing twee or commercial about Sea Palling. It feels wonderfully unspoiled - even a little wild when there's a big wind coming in off the North Sea and the kite surfers come out to play. The beach is typically sheltered and popular with locals and visitors for swimming and jet skiing. It's close to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Reserve, so remember to pack your binoculars, and you can drive along the coast to see the seals at Waxham or Horsey Gap. Other beaches include Happisburgh, Walcott, Winterton on Sea, and Bacton.
Local attractions feature historic Horsey Windpump, Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure, beWILDerwood, and Wroxham Barns. There's no need for the fun to stop if it rains. Spend a day in the wonderful medieval city of Norwich, just 20 miles from Midthatch. Visit a specialist museum like the RAF Defense Radar Museum or the Museum of the Broads. Practice your most refined royal wave at Sandringham, see where Anne Boelyn was born at Blickling Hall, and admire the beautiful walled garden at Holkham Hall. You're within easy reach of the Norfolk Broads National Park, with plentiful opportunities for sailing and boating, and there are endless miles of footpaths and cycling routes winding their way through glorious countryside.
Guests love the owner's attention to detail, making Midthatch feel immediately welcoming and like a home-away-from-home. The location is handy for exploring North Norfolk's beaches and attractions yet remains peaceful and perfect for a relaxing holiday. Sea Palling has a village store and a cafe, with more shops and amenities nearby in Stalham and North Walsham.
