Hall Farm Cottage is an idyllic property sitting in the grounds of Hall Farmhouse in Wood Norton, one of Norfolk’s most charming villages. Set well back from a quiet country road and surrounded by a beautiful cottage garden, it is a romantic bolt hole for couples who want to enjoy the peace of the countryside without feeling cut off and isolated.
Wood Norton is small and lovely, with a wonderful church that dates back to the Middle Ages. It is around two miles from Foulsham and Twyford, and six miles from Fakenham where there is a good range of amenities, including supermarkets. The market town of Holt is around nine miles north. It was extensively damaged by fire in 1708 and its rebuilt Georgian buildings, many of which are occupied by independently owned shops and cafes, look practically modern by comparison to older towns in Norfolk!
Take a journey on a North Norfolk Railway vintage steam train through the countryside from Holt to Sheringham, or spend the day wandering through Norwich’s medieval streets and admire its magnificent cathedral. A big appeal of a holiday in Hall Farm Cottage is how close it is, not only to Norfolk’s gorgeous countryside which has inspired artists and writers for centuries, but also to fantastic beaches like Wells-next-the-Sea, Sheringham and Cromer. Stately homes like the royal residence of Sandringham, Blickling and Holkham, are perfect for a relaxed day out.
Nature lovers will be overjoyed by the wealth of flora and fauna on display at Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve, Holkham Reserve, Holme Dunes, and The Wash. At the northern tip of The Broads, Wroxham is only twenty three miles from the cottage, while mountain biking at Thetford is around an hour’s drive south. Pensthorpe near Fakenham is a must-see for the impressive conservation work they carry out, and if you plan your visit for a Thursday, then you can pick up the makings of a picnic at Fakenham’s thriving weekly market which has been running since 1250.
Whatever you want from your holiday, you can experience it during your stay at Hall Farm Cottage.
