Cockle Cottage is in the centre of the popular Norfolk town of Comer, within walking distance of the famous beach and pier, and great pubs such as The Wellington and The Red Lion. With one double and one twin room, it is an ideal self-catering holiday cottage for families or couples who enjoy being so close to one of Britain’s most beloved seaside resorts.
The Norfolk coastline is stunning with miles of sandy beaches awarded Blue Flag status for their cleanliness. Cromer is arguably the best of the bunch, and you could easily spend your entire holiday without leaving its sight. Fishing is one of the region’s primary industries, and you can discover (or rediscover) the joyous pleasure of eating freshly caught crab or lobster straight from buttery fingers. Cromer Pier has been providing traditional seaside entertainment for over a century, and the amusement arcade is a good place to pass a happy few hours.
A few miles down the coast from Cromer, Sheringham provides plenty of distraction if you fancy a change of scenery. A regular train service runs between the two towns, taking around 20 minutes, or you may prefer to jump aboard the historic North Norfolk Railway that runs through the glorious Norwich countryside between Sheringham and Holt. Sheringham also has a lovely beach and park.
Other nearby attractions include historic Felbrigg Hall, Amazona Zoo, and the reputable Royal Cromer Golf Club. The Norfolk Coast Area of Natural Beauty and The Wash National Nature Reserve are within driving distance of Cockle Cottage for a day trip out. Both are home to a wealth of birds and wildlife and have excellent footpaths and cycling trails to allow you to immerse yourself in the setting and enjoy the natural beauty of this area up close. Blakeney and Horsey are also popular with wildlife lovers for seal spotting, or head inland and explore the magical waterways of the Norfolk Broads, teaming with birdlife.
You should make time to visit Norwich while you are in the area. Just over 20 miles from Cockle Cottage, Norwich has a rich history in the arts and literature, and a university which gives the city a fresh, youthful feel. Here, you can see the magnificent cathedral and castle, poke around in bookshops, eat, drink and shop to your heart’s content.
Cromer is the ideal place for a seaside holiday. Little has changed in generations because it does not need to. Whether it is your first time in Cromer or you visit religiously every year, Cockle Cottage is a welcoming and comfortable place to stay.
