Beechwood Cottage accommodates two to four guests and sits off a quiet little country lane, in the small hamlet of Alby within Norfolk. It is just a short drive to the Broadland market town of Aylsham and the coast at Cromer, providing an ideal retreat for couples who want to explore Norfolk and its many attractions.
Adjoining the owner's home, Beechwood Cottage dates back to the 18th Century and was formerly a farm-worker’s cottage. Nestling amongst half an acre of gardens, the cottage enjoys uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside with beautiful sunsets.
With a beamed living room, kitchen and landing; cosy snug with inglenook fireplace housing a 'wood effect' stove; sun room; central heating, modern equipment and facilities, the cottage offers a cosy welcoming atmosphere with lots of traditional charm to return home to.
Alby is a small hamlet peppered with farms and cottages. Situated only four miles from the market town of Aylsham in the Norfolk Broads, it is an ideal base for exploring the areas many attractions or just enjoying a peaceful break. Sitting next to the River Bure, Aylsham has an unspoilt market place with a good selection of interesting shops, pubs and teashops. The popular Edwardian seaside town of Cromer (famous for its Cromer Crabs!) is just five miles away and provides everything needed for an enjoyable day by the sea including promenades, sandy beaches, landscaped cliff-top gardens and great fish and chips!
For those who are happy to travel a little further, the Norfolk Broads are within easy reach as is the Cathedral city of Norwich. Cley Marshes, one of the country's top places for bird watching, is only thirty minutes drive and nature lovers can take a boat trip from Blakeney to see the seals. For those who enjoy walking, The Weavers Way is accessible across the fields (quarter of a mile from the cottage) and takes you over Thwaite common, rich in flora and fauna. Keep going a little further to the magnificent Blickling Hall which is surrounded by National Trust land. Holt Country Park is also a lovely place to walk around.
