About Valley View House

Valley View certainly lives up to its name! This luxurious holiday home has an uninterrupted view of hills, trees and woodland, with lots of space indoors and outside from which to enjoy it. It is in the quiet village of Frogham, a few minutes walk from the friendly Foresters Arms pub and less than three miles from Fordingbridge's shops and other amenities. There is room for up to ten people to sleep in six bedrooms, four of which are ensuite, so it's perfect for families, extended families and friends who want to explore the authentic New Forest - the wilder part of the National Park where there are more bridleways and footpaths than roads, and where it's more likely you'll be outnumbered by the local ponies and wild-grazing cattle on your walk than by curious tourists.

Frogham is less touristy and more "local" than many parts of the New Forest. You don't have to be a keen hiker to enjoy the beautiful countryside and trails leading from the village through forests and over moorland, where the famous New Forest ponies and donkeys graze peacefully. Mountain bikers can use the extensive network of bridleways and tracks that bypass boggy areas and help to protect the landscape and ground-nesting birds. Bike and e-bike hire is available locally for guests who don't bring their own ride. Road cycling in the New Forest is also fantastic, especially around this part of the national park where there is less traffic than around bigger towns like Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst. Alternatively, swap saddles for a guided pony trek.

Stock up for your self-catering stay at Fordingham's independent butcher, grocer, farm shop and bakery. Ten minutes further away, Ringwood has two supermarkets and a regular Wednesday market. Make a day of it by adding a tour of the Ringwood Brewery or a visit to Liberty's Owl and Raptor Centre. Other local attractions include Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, the New Forest Water Park, Go Ape at Moors Valley, Boulderwood Deer Sanctuary, and the Moors Valley Country Park.

A word of warning: if you're after an adrenaline-fuelled holiday with glitzy attractions and the push to cram in as much as possible, the New Forest is probably not going to be for you. The pace here is relaxed and in harmony with the seasons. You can't rush things. You'll find that your pace instinctively slows, allowing you to appreciate having time to enjoy with your favourite people in a unique and beautiful landscape.

Location (The New Forest)

Accommodation Comprises:

Valley View is a big house with accommodation over two levels. It was built to make the most of the stunning location, with every room benefiting from beautiful views. The main house has four bedrooms, with the remaining two bedrooms in the adjacent annexe.

  • Open plan living/dining room with huge glass doors that frame spectacular views and open onto the patio. Hardwood floors are complemented with efficient underfloor heating. The overall effect is elegant yet comfortable. The seating area has a TV with a soundbar and Sky channels. The dining room has a long table that seats 10 people with ease.
  • Welcoming kitchen extremely well-equipped for self-catering thanks to the owner's love of cooking and a family with four chefs. Expect a traditional Aga range cooker, a modern oven, a big American-style fridge freezer, DeLonghi coffee maker, dishwasher, plates, glasses, serving dishes. It's a cliche to say a kitchen is the "heart of the home", but, in this instance, it's true, especially as many guests default to entering the house via the rear door.
  • Utility room with laundry and cleaning equipment.
  • Cloakroom with a WC and handbasin.

  • Double room with a kingsize bed and south-facing forest views. The ensuite has a bath with a handheld shower attachment, WC and a handbasin.
  • Second south-facing double room with a kingsize bed. The ensuite has a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Two single rooms with forest views.
  • Family bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC and a handbasin.

  • Ground floor bedroom with a kingsize bed and forest views. Though on the ground floor, there are several steps between the sitting room and the bedroom.
  • Bathroom with a bath and handheld shower attachment, WC and a handbasin.
  • Upstairs bedroom with a double bed, doors opening onto the patio and garden, and an ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The house sits in over two acres of grounds with mature trees and an (unfenced) pond. The banks slope towards the valley floor, bringing the view even closer. There is off-street parking for three cars with more free parking in a car park across the road.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Babes in arms are welcome (guests to provide travel cots), but otherwise only children over five years old as the Aga, open staircase and an open drop in the garden are not suitable for toddlers. The owner regrets they cannot accommodate pets. Smoking is not permitted.
