The Old Piggery is a true forest holiday retreat that is located on a peaceful, beautiful three acre smallholding, providing an ideal getaway for both couples and families.
Ideally situated on the outskirts of East Boldre village, The Old Piggery affords direct forest access and is well located for exploring this tranquil and unspoilt part of the New Forest National Park. With the Solent Coastline under two miles away, this is the perfect place for enjoying everything the forest has to offer including miles of wonderful walks and bike rides, as well as the joy of being by the sea with Milford on Sea, Avon Beach and Highcliffe a short drive away!
The local area offers a choice of good pubs for a meal out within walking (one mile) and easy driving distance, as well as a post office in the village of East Boldre village (which is home to The Turfcutters Arms). The quayside market town of Lymington is just five miles away with its restaurants, marina’s, cobbled quay, independent shops and Saturday market. Lymington also provides access by car ferry to the Isle of Wight - a lovely day trip.
The beautiful ancient village of Beaulieu, which dates back to the 13th Century is a short car ride from The Old Piggery (five miles away) where you will find the National Motor Museum (popular with all ages), Beaulieu Abbey and Palace House. From here you can enjoy a lovely walk alongside the river to nearby Bucklers Hard with its Maritime Museum and hotel for those wanting refreshments.
Walking, pony trekking and cycling are all popular activities in the forest with miles of tracks and trails to explore. Bring your bike along (bike storage available) or hire one locally (the villages of Brockenhurst and Beaulieu offer cycle hire). Pony trekking can also be arranged from the stables at Brockenhurst and Burley, allowing you to discover the beauty of the area by horse back (a great way to see the native New Forest ponies in their natural habitat).
