Thatched Hat Cottage is your perfect self-catering holiday just waiting to happen. It has everything on your New Forest wishlist, from a fantastic location in a peaceful hamlet, to a cosy log burner, a cottage garden bursting with colour and, the crowning glory, a thatched roof. There is space for up to six people to sleep in three spacious bedrooms, one of which is downstairs, so it is ideal for families or friends.
The cottage is in Norley Wood, where ponies, donkeys and cows graze beside tree-lined lanes. There are no supermarkets or chain stores to disturb the old-world charm - just a red phone box that acts as a landmark and a tiny village information centre. You won't miss the amenities though, because it's all close by. Pilley and East Boldre are two miles and three miles away respectively, each with shops selling the essentials. Anything else can be found in the vibrant Georgian harbour town of Lymington, three and a half miles away with a choice of supermarkets, pubs, cafes and shops. Lymington also has a regular ferry service to the Isle of Wight that takes around 30-minutes.
Walking is one of the most pleasurable ways to explore the New Forest National Park. A popular route is across the fields to the welcoming East End Arms pub, while others include the footpath that winds through the Norley Wood enclosure and on to Brockenhurst. There are spectacular views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight along the coastal path. With the New Forest National Park spread out from the doorstep, you have an endless choice of place to walk or cycle, with paths leading through forests of ancient oak and pine, beside streams and rivers, and across heathland.
Local attractions include Palace House and the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, and the St Barbe Museum and Gallery in Lymington which hosts a busy Saturday market. Go swimming in Lymington's open-air baths, walk across Hurst Spit to Henry VIII's Hurst Castle, or hire a bike and explore as far as your legs are prepared to take you.
Thatched Hat Cottage is waiting, providing guests with a warm welcome and a comfortable home-away-from-home that will be as much of a highlight of your holiday as any of the things that you see or do.

Thatched Hat Cottage is a traditional period cottage with accommodation over two levels.

Outside: The garden is a feature of this gorgeous cottage. The owner is a keen gardener who has created a cottage fantasy which is fenced on two sides and open to a field at the rear. The garden has a pond, so children should not be left unsupervised. There is also a charcoal barbecue and outdoor seating, and parking for up to three cars.
Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, sheets and towels are provided, and a basket of logs is included in winter. A travel cot (no bedding) and high chair are available on request. The owner regrets that dogs are not permitted due to the local wildlife, including a pet guinea fowl that lives in the garden. The cottage is a no-smoking property.
