Nutshell Cottage is a welcoming family-friendly bolt hole in a fantastic location. Escape from the stress of work, commuting, after-school appointments and all the other things that take up precious time and relax in this wonderful holiday cottage in the Georgian market town of Lymington. There's space for six people in three bedrooms, with the option of accommodating two infants in cots, with light colours and beautiful furnishings complementing the Victorian structure and open-plan layout. You're only a short stroll from shops, cafes, bars and Lymington's historic Old Town Quay, as well as within easy reach of the train station and passenger ferry to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
Lymington offers something for everyone in every season. Walking, cycling, sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding are all readily available, with guides, tuition and equipment hire available locally if you need it. You can swim in the oldest lido still in use in Britain, walk along the Solent Way for stunning views, or cycle along more than 100 miles of family-friendly cycle trails through the New Forest National Park. There’s a synchronicity between the forest and the water around here - you’ll still see marks on some oak trees planted centuries ago in Nelson’s time when it was unfathomable that ships would be made from anything but the finest timber.
Attractions outside of Lymington include Hurst Castle. Built by Henry VIII as a fortress and now a private WWII museum, it’s fun to combine a visit here with a walk across the mile-long shingle spit for superb views of the chalky Needles of the Isle of Wight. Those who don’t fancy the walk can use the regular ferry service from Keyhaven to cross the river. Admire the collection at the National Motor Museum, see where Nelson’s fleet was built at Buckler’s Hard, and treat the kids to a day at Paulton’s Park or the New Forest Water Park. Hampshire’s beaches are also worth a visit, with Milford a particular favourite.
Guests who have stayed at Nutshell Cottage love its welcoming atmosphere, the location for sights, attractions and amenities, and the convenience of being near shops and restaurants. Although furnished for six people, it's not too big for couples or smaller parties of three or four.

Outside: The back door opens onto a deck with outdoor seating. Mature trees provide shade and there’s a small lawn.
Additional Information: All bedding, bath towels, utilities and WiFi are included. A travel cot and a highchair are available on request. Guests to bring cot bedding and beach towels if they are required. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement and a small charge. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property. Two parking permits are included for use in a public carpark two minutes from the house. Parking on the street is free but limited to one hour.
