Dray Cottage - Brockenhurst, Hampshire, The New Forest, England - Sleeps 8
Three night minimum short breaks available (sorry but two nights or less cannot be accommodated)
Dray Mews Cottages offer a choice of three beautifully presented holiday homes perfectly placed in the popular New Forest village of Brockenhurst. Modern and stylish throughout with a high level of attention to detail, Cartwheel and Keg Cottage both accommodate five guests and Dray Cottage accommodates eight, making the cottages the perfect choice for families, walkers and cyclists (a discount may also be available for couples outside of peak season).
A great location for visiting the areas many attractions, the cottages sit behind a gated entrance off a quiet no-through road accessible off the A337, providing easy access to both the M27 and the Hampshire and Dorset coast. Brockenhurst also has a main line train station, allowing you to leave your desk on a Friday and be enjoying all the forest has to offer within just a couple of hours.
Noted for being 'one of the country's most beautiful places to live', Brockenhurst is a sizeable village with a good choice of pubs and shops (a short walk from the cottages), yet it beholds all the magic you would expect from a quaint New Forest village where ponies, donkeys and cattle wander the streets freely. The village sits right at the heart of the national park, a former hunting ground of King William I, extending to over five hundred and fifty square kilometres of pure natural beauty.
Abundant with wildlife, the New Forest offers miles of tracks and trails to satisfy the most active of walkers and cyclists. Bike hire is available in the village just a short stroll away, and there are also riding stables - a fantastic way of exploring the forest and getting up close to the native ponies, deer and cattle in their natural habitat. The village also has a golf course (Brockenhurst Manor) for those who enjoy a game.
With so much to see and do on the doorstep, many guests spend much of their holiday in or around Brockenhurst but for those that can tear themselves away, the area offers an abundance of attractions.
Head to the coast for the day and visit Milford on Sea where you can enjoy cliff top walks, Christchurch with its attractive natural harbour, and Bournemouth home to the Oceanarium. Water sports enthusiasts and surfers will also want to visit Boscombe Beach with its surfing reef.
The Georgian market town of Lymington is not only popular amongst sailing enthusiasts but also those with a passion for retail therapy, with a weekly Saturday market, great choice of shops and independent boutiques lining its cobbled quayside. From here you can catch the ferry to the Isle of Wight, or wander around the Keyhaven Nature Reserve, a must for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Beaulieu with its famous motor museum and palace is only ten minutes away by car, and close by to picturesque Buckler's Hard, and also Exbury Gardens. A little further afield but still within easy driving distance are Portsmouth with its historic dockyard, Southampton, Poole and Salisbury with its magnificent cathedral and shops to browse.
