Chestnut Cottage - Burley, Hampshire, The New Forest, England - Sleeps 5
Chestnut Cottage (with newly installed Wi-Fi) is a pretty thatched holiday cottage that sleeps five guests in three bedrooms. Located on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Burley in the New Forest National Park, the cottage provides a traditional country retreat which is a good base for exploring the many attractions that the New Forest and Hampshire have to offer.
Right in the heart of the New Forest, Chestnut Cottage has direct forest access with walks starting from the front door. It is just a half mile level walk into Burley village centre where you will find boutique shops, a post office, a fantastic golf course in a picturesque setting and two pubs/inns serving good food, ale and offering alfresco dining. Whether you are looking for a short winter break or a longer summer holiday, this is a comfortable holiday retreat all year round.
Surrounded by some of the finest scenery that the New Forest has to offer, the local area has attractions and places of interest to suit all ages. The heathlands and ancient forest offer miles of paths and bridleways which are ideal for cyclists (bike hire available in the village from Forest Leisure Cycling), walkers and horse-riders and there are also fishing opportunities and great wildlife, including the ponies, donkeys and cattle that freely roam and can be seen wandering through the village!
For those who want to explore the wider area and its places of interest, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst, Bucklers Hard, beaches at Bournemouth, Lymington and even the Isle of Wight are within easy reach. There are also plenty of historic houses and gardens to visit and further afield but achievable in a day you have the Cathedral City of Salisbury and Stonehenge.
