Amble Back - Fordingbridge, Hampshire, The New Forest, England - Sleeps 4
Amble Back is newly furnished and now available as a holiday cottage. It is a beautifully presented retreat sleeping up to four guests, ideally located in the attractive riverside town of Fordingbridge on the edge of the New Forest National Park. Perfect for friends, families and also couples, Amble Back has been lovingly refurbished and provides an ideal base for exploring the many attractions of the Forest, Salisbury and Southampton. The coast and iconic Stonehenge are also within easy reach.
Conveniently located the cottage is within an easy level walk to the town's pretty High Street with excellent amenities including a good choice of places to eat out and a variety of shops for browsing or stocking up on provisions. There is an intriguing museum in the town that allows you to find out about the local history and also a park alongside the River Avon with great play area for children of all ages (including a paddling pool, skate board park and pirate ship), fishing opportunities (day tickets can be purchased) and plenty of space to enjoy a picnic or relax in the sunshine with a good book (dogs are welcome in the park).
For those who prefer to avoid using the car, you have everything on the doorstep. Enjoy lovely walks throughout the day then stroll out of an evening for a meal or takeaway, or pick up some local provisions to create a special supper in the fully equipped kitchen back at the cottage.
Sitting on the outskirts of the national park, Fordingbridge is well placed for exploring the many attractions of the forest and enjoying all it has to offer in terms of wonderful walks, miles of cycle routes and pretty villages with traditional pubs. Enjoy a leisurely drive, bike or horse ride through leafy lanes or over forest tracks where you will see the wild ponies, donkeys and cattle grazing freely (you may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of deer and wild pigs!).
Whatever the time of year, every season brings with it a special surprise. Visit in the spring when the bluebells are raising their heads and the foliage is bursting into life or the summer when newly born foals are finding their feet. The autumn colours are simply spectacular, just as winter mornings are magical, twinkling under a crisp frost. There are also plenty of interesting days out to entertain all ages including: Bucklers Hard and nearby Beaulieu with its famous Motor Museum; Exbury Gardens (incredible when in full bloom in the Spring); Paultons Family Theme Park (Home to Peppa Pig World) and Lymington where you can catch a ferry to the Isle of Wight to name just a few. If you fancy a day by the sea on a lovely sandy beach Christchurch and Bournemouth are an easy drive away.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing break or an action packed holiday getting out and about and seeing all the attractions, Amble Back is a welcoming retreat and conveniently placed within just two hours of London.
