Broadleaf House - Old Wood North, Skellingthorpe, Lincolnshire, England - Sleeps 6+2Group bookings available: This property is one of 2 properties which, when rented together, can accommodate up to 10 guests
Broadleaf House sleeps up to eight guests (six adults and two children) and is an impressive holiday retreat for friends and family conveniently located close to the vibrant cathedral city of Lincoln.
Nestling amongst extensive grounds, the house affords a tranquil setting with some two hundred and fifty acres of majestic woodland and rolling countryside on the doorstep. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, horse riding or city life, Broadleaf House offers all the right ingredients for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year.
Beautifully presented throughout with a high degree of attention to detail, there is plenty of living space to relax both inside and out. You have the choice of the conservatory with garden views or the social kitchen/diner for eating; a balcony made just for two for morning tea; a stylish sitting room with wonderful log burner for cosy nights; and a snug for watching television or enjoying a quiet moment. There are three bedrooms that provide flexible sleeping, a patio for sitting out when the sun shines and large lawned area for relaxing and games, as well as a paddock for those who want to bring their horse to explore the bridleways. For larger groups of ten, the adjoining one bedroom lodge can also be rented (see owners website for details).
Whilst you feel nicely tucked away amongst ancient woodland, Lincoln's city centre is remarkably close and only four miles away. Its gothic cathedral towers keep a watchful eye over the landscape and are actually visible on the horizon from the garden boundary! Perfectly blending history with a modern vibe, Lincoln is Lincolnshire's county town. Its impressive cathedral houses one of only four copies of the Magna Carta, and its majestic castle is every bit as impressive with a busy calendar of events throughout the year. Wander the high street for all your favourite big brand names, or the cobbled streets of Bailgate for independent boutiques and eateries that put the fun back into shopping. Lincoln also has a number of weekly markets providing a taste of local produce, museums, theatres/arts/antique centres, tours and trails to explore the city, and a superb choice of restaurants for a meal out.
For the younger party members, a trip to Sundown Adventureland Theme Park near Retford is sure to be a holiday highlight. Brayford Marina in the city is another popular attraction with a great choice of bars and restaurants as well as a cinema. Sit outside at one of the venues and enjoy alfresco dining whilst watching the world go by, or take a boat trip and see the sights of the Fossdyke Canal. You can also take these in from the National Cycle Route 64 which provides traffic free cycling from Brayford Marina to Harby village in Nottinghamshire (bike hire is available locally in the village). Doddington Hall is another popular nearby attractions and an hour's walk through the woods from Broadleaf House.
Sandwiched between the Lincolnshire Wolds and the Peak District National Park, Broadleaf House has an abundance of attractions (including Chatsworth House) within easy reach for day trips out, as well as excellent opportunities for outdoor activities, relaxing and city life on the doorstep.
