Cherry Tree Cottage is a pretty holiday cottage in the village of Barkestone in the Vale of Belvoir in Nottinghamshire. With space for six people to sleep in three bedrooms, it's ideal for families who like the rural setting and wide choice of footpaths and cycling routes through beautiful countryside. The cottage is child and pet-friendly and has recently been refurbished and redecorated with lovely furnishings and lots of thoughtful touches that make it feel like a genuine home-away-from-home. Whether you're staying for a holiday, because you're attending a wedding or event in the area, or visiting friends or relatives, Cherry Tree Cottage offers a warm welcome all year round.
Barkestone, whose full name is Barkestone-le-Vale, is on the border between Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. Part of its appeal is the lack of change - many of the red-brick, terracotta-tiled buildings look the same today as they did a century or more ago. Although the village no longer has a pub, it's only a mile and a half from the friendly Windmill Inn, which makes a great halfway-stop off point between Cherry Tree Cottage and the spectacular Belvoir Castle and Gardens.
Grantham, Nottingham, Newark, and Melton Mowbray are all within easy reach, providing you with a wide choice of places to shop, eat and drink. The area has miles of beautiful footpaths and scenic routes for cycling, with bike hire available locally if you need it. Other than Belvoir Castle, attractions include Woolsthorpe Manor, Harlaxton Manor, the Easton Walled Gardens, Belton Park, the Alpaca Centre, quad biking, outdoor pursuits, and the for the truly adventurous, skydiving. There is also a retro cinema in Melton Mowbray. You can spend your days walking for miles through glorious countryside, eating your body weight in cakes at tea rooms and cafes in picturesque villages and buzzing towns, tour historic homes, or making the most of local markets, festivals and other events.
Guests of Cherry Tree Cottage love the space, the layout, and the location. It's child and dog-friendly, so your whole family can enjoy a holiday together. Bookings are available all year round.
