Moorhen Lodge is a traditional lakeside lodge with beautiful views and space for four people to sleep in two bedrooms. The holiday home is one of several self-catering properties at Redwell Park in Arkholme, where guests can enjoy a relaxing holiday of fishing, walking and cycling through the gorgeous Lancashire countryside. Birds and wildlife thrive in the peaceful spot conveniently close to Kirkby Lonsdale and only a few miles from Morecambe Bay's beaches and coastline. Moorhen Lodge is ideal for couples, families or friends, and can be booked with other properties at Redwell Park to accommodate extended families and groups of friends.
One thing all of the guests who book a holiday at Redwell Park have in common is a love of the Great Outdoors. Moorhen Lodge is just over the northern border of the Forest of Bowland Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and only a short drive from the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Arnside and Silverdale AONB. Within a 20 minute radius, you have access to an enormous range of scenery with landscapes ranging from hills and mountains to moors, lakes and rivers, coast, caves and limestone cliffs. Walking, mountain biking, golf, diving, climbing and caving are all popular outdoor activities.
The lodge is a mile and a half from Over Kellet, where there is a village green, post office and small village shop, as well as the welcoming Eagle's Head pub. For a wider choice of amenities, Carnforth is only a 10-minute car ride and offers three supermarkets, takeaways and chemists. Alternatively, drive eight miles to the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale which offers a wide variety of places to eat, drink and shop. It's a lively town known for its stunning views made famous by John Ruskin. Lancaster is around 20 minutes from Moorhen Lodge, with more amenities and shops.
Local attractions include the magnificent Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, Lancaster Castle, and the RSPB Leighton Moss Nature Reserve. The Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks (Pen y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough Hawes) is possible for guests who enjoy a serious challenge, or you can visit Aysgarth Falls or take a ride on the Settle to Carlisle Railway. Spend a day exploring Kendal or Wensleydale, or spend a day relaxing on the beach at Bolton-le-Sands or another beach on the curve of Morecambe Bay. Redwell Park has five acres of fishing lakes open to members, including associate members.
