Sandbed Cottage sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms. It is located in a lovely rural location within Cumbria at the foot of Harter Fell, near the unspoilt village of Ravenstonedale, with two pubs serving food, a playground for children and St Oswald's church with Gilbertine ruins. Conveniently located, Sandbed Cottage provides a comfortable base from which to explore the many attractions of both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District and is perfect for those who enjoy walking.
This delightful cottage has been carefully designed to retain many of its original features including flagged floors and oak beams. These have been perfectly mixed with handpicked pieces of furniture to provide all the charm and character of a traditional cottage with modern conveniences. Ideal for couples or families, there are a wealth of wonderful walks for guests to enjoy from the cottage front door. Dogs are welcome.
Just a short stroll from the cottage you will find the ancient Murthwaite woods and lime stone pavement of Fell End clouds. Keep your eyes peeled for deer, red squirrels or buzzards soaring overhead. The fells surrounding Sandbed Cottage are grazed by wild fell ponies and Swaledale sheep with open access across the fells for walkers.
There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area including golf with several courses to choose from, fishing on the river Lune or Eden and horse riding. The ancient Book Town of Sedbergh is six miles away and provides not only superb walking amongst the spectacular Howgills but also craft and book shops to browse, eating establishments and a weekly market.
Kirkby Stephen is just seven miles from Sandbed Cottage and is a historic market town with a good choice of shops and pubs. Sitting at the Eden Valley's mouth, the town sits on Alfred Wainwrights much loved and famous Coast to Coast long distance path, and the Cumbria Cycle Way which is excellent for cyclists. Kirkby Stephen railway station is a mile and a half outside of town and is on the famous Carlisle Settle Railway - what better way to take in the spectacular scenery than by a journey on a steam train! Slightly further afield but still within easy reach for a day trip out are the many attractions, magnificent mountains and fells of the Lakes, as well as the stunning beauty of the Yorkshire Dales offering never ending opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

Outside: During the warmer weather, guests have plenty of outside space to relax with gardens to the back of the property and side with seating provided, allowing you to soak in the wonderful views - the perfect place for your morning coffee whilst planning the day ahead! There is also a stone built barbecue.
Additional information: All electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are included. The holiday cottage has oil fired central heating. There is a travel cot and highchair available. Short breaks available. Dogs welcome by arrangement (no extra charge).

On arrival at Sandbed cottage, we meet & greet guests and give any information for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, there will also be a welcome hamper including a starter pack of tea, coffee & milk, 1/2 doz of our own free range eggs and a home baked loaf of bread, either white or wholemeal.
