About Oakbank Cottage

Oakbank Cottage nestles in stunning scenery in the Lake District’s beautiful Duddon Valley, providing stylish, spacious, exceptionally comfortable pet-friendly holiday accommodation that’s ideal for families or friends who want to holiday together.

Oakbank is quiet and secluded and wonderfully relaxing, with a fully enclosed garden and just the sound of the nearby rushing mountain stream and waterfall to listen to. There are fabulous walks from the door, including a ten minute stroll down the valley to the little old post office and stores at Ulpha.

The cottage works brilliantly for everyone, with loads of great things for the whole family to see and do in the area. From the Cumbrian Heavy Horse Centre (you can ride along the beach on these magnificent shire horses!) to the Owl Sanctuary at Muncaster Castle, from golf to canoeing, from the little Eskdale steam train ride to the coast to the amazing Roman Fort in the dramatic Hardknott Pass, you’ll never be short of wonderful memories of a holiday at Oakbank Cottage. You can even enjoy a day out at beautiful sandy beaches at St Bees and Silecroft! Lakeland favourites such as Ambleside and Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop Farm are also within easy reach.

The attractive little town of Broughton-in-Furness is only ten minutes away and provides two great food shops where you can stock up on local produce, as well as a terrific café that sells home-made bread and cakes. Tesco deliver to the cottage too. And you’ll find several family-friendly old inns in the area that serve excellent meals and local ales.

Oakbank Cottage has a big, very well-equipped kitchen-breakfast room with glass doors that open onto the patio, and a spacious, oak-beamed sitting with comfy sofas, books and games. It’s a great place to come home to after a day exploring the area where you can relax and enjoy a roaring log fire whilst watching Sky television or a good film on DVD.
