Little Stone Howe is one of two lovely modern, welcoming holiday cottages, affording stunning views, in a tranquil spot at the base of Kirkstone pass and just a short stroll from the heart of the popular Cumbrian village of Ambleside.
Ambleside is an ideal base for exploring the Lake District and Fells and is a thriving village that has become incredibly popular over the year with tourists, providing a great choice of restaurants, character pubs and shops. It is also very popular with walkers and an excellent place for starting some of the finest walks that the Lake District has to offer.
Whilst the town pre-dates Roman times, Ambleside is primarily influenced by the Victorian era and has well known characters associated with it such as William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin. A short walk from the village takes you to Stock Ghyll Force, an incredible waterfall of some seventy foot.
Surrounded by spectacular scenery, Ambleside is the largest lake in the country and sits at the mouth of Windermere. From here you can take a steamer to Bowness-on-Windermere and Lakeside where you can relax whilst enjoying exceptional views of the mountains and Lakes.
Whether you are looking for a base from which to explore the Lake District and its many delights; a relaxing holiday amongst breath taking scenery or a holiday enjoying outdoor activities including mountaineering, hiking and mountain biking - Little Stone Howe is a perfect holiday destinations for couples.
