Little Barn has views that will take your breath away. Newly converted, the charming holiday cottage is perfectly located between Grange-over-Sands and Cartmel, looking out over fields with uninterrupted views of the water of Morecambe Bay. If you love Cumbria and the Lake District but hate the idea of having to share your favourite beauty spot with dozens of others, the prospect of a holiday in Little Barn will warm your heart. The medieval village of Cartmel is close by, putting shops, cafes, historic buildings and the welcoming Kings Arms pub at your disposal. The two-bedroom holiday home sleeps four people and suits couples and families.
This area is famed worldwide for the beauty of its landscape. The views from the cottage and the garden are merely the amuse-bouche to whet your appetite for exploration. A choice local route is through Hampsfell and Eggerslack Wood. Providing it's not race day, cross over Cartmel racecourse, or stroll the two miles to Holker Hall or the coast of Morecambe Bay at Grange-over-Sands. The southern shore of Windermere is eight miles away, while Coniston Water and Kendal are also within easy reach. Mountain bikers will enjoy having Grizedale Forest 25-minutes from the door, while golfers will appreciate having two golf courses nearby.
Cartmel may be small, but it has a strong contingent of admirers who come from far and wide to shop at its independent cheese shop, bakery, artisan chocolatier, microbrewery, and monthly food market. It's gorgeous, boasting an ancient priory that is still very much at the heart of the community 800 years after its construction, having escaped the ravages of the Reformation. Treat yourself to a meal at L’Enclume, the fine-dining restaurant with two Michelin stars that has been wowing diners since 2002. Cartmel holds a place in the heart of many a diner, even if they don't know it, as it's where the nation's favourite Sticky Toffee Pudding was invented. It's proudly handmade and stocked in the village shop, where you can pick up one (or two!) with your fresh milk and bread.
Little Barn is an idyllic spot in all seasons. The owners have designed and decorated it to suit the stunning natural surroundings so the incredible scenery takes centre stage from the moment you wake up until you draw the curtains on the spectacular night skies to sleep soundly.
