Daisypop Cottage is a three bedroomed holiday cottage on the edge of the Lake District, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nestled in the pretty, rural village of Hackthorpe, it offers the best of both worlds, feeling quiet and unspoilt, yet within easy reach of many major tourist attractions. The cottage boasts stunning views of the Pennine Hills from the bedrooms and there are fantastic walking routes in every direction from the property.
The public footpath that is adjacent to the property is part of the Lowther Castle Estate. Dog owners in particular will love the miles of quiet countryside on the doorstep. Deer roam freely on the many paths and you'll also spot rabbits and red squirrels on your walks. If peace and quiet is what you need to recharge your battery then the local walks will hit the spot!
If you are seeking a little more adventure and variety there are many places to explore! Lowther Castle itself is within walking distance and offers formal gardens, cycle hire, adventure playground and cafe and there are also special events throughout the year such as outdoor theatre and concerts. With its crenellations and chic courtyard you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the Loire Valley!
The majestic Ullswater Lake can be reached on foot, via the picture postcard village of Askham, home to two high quality pubs serving delicious food and the Michelin starred Askham Hall hotel and garden. After a sumptuous lunch you can wander to the summit of Askham Fell and enjoy spectacular views of Lake Ullswater! Truly breathtaking! Ullswater is also home to the famous steamer boats. Take a short scenic drive to the pretty Pooley Bridge where you can jump aboard to access all the lakeside towns and villages or try out the many water sports on offer.
The popular town of Keswick is a scenic 30 minutes drive away. Here you can choose from a vast array of shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and of course the stunning Derwentwater Lake. You are spoilt for choice of walks and activities to do here but don't miss the boat rides on the lake where you can fully appreciate the stunning mountain scenery all around you!
After a busy day sight seeing and exploring, don't forget to stop off at Abbott Lodge Ice Cream farm, just 5 minutes away from Daisypop Cottage to continue the holiday mood!
