Bramble Cottage has recently been refurbished to provide very comfortable accommodation for four people in two ensuite bedrooms with children and up to two well-behaved dogs welcome. The Whicham Valley location is blissfully rural for anyone who needs relief from bustle and noise, yet it's convenient for the A595 to make getting around simple, and just a mile and a half from the respected Punchbowl Inn. The views will take your breath away with their scope and their beauty, and there is a wealth of footpaths and bridleways to enjoy.
The pretty town of Millom is five miles from the cottage and is well served with amenities. It's a favourite for visitors who appreciate that not only are the footpaths around here absolutely stunning but that they are less busy than well-trodden routes around places like Windermere, so you won't have to share the views with anyone! The population of Millom grew to around 10,000 in the second half of the 1800s, attracted by work mining iron ore. You'll see evidence of this in the town's museum, though the mine is now a picturesque RSPB Nature Reserve with a lagoon. More shops and places to eat are five miles or a ten-minute drive away in Broughton in Furness, while Ulverston is bigger again, with a twice-weekly market.
You'll want your comfiest walking boots for a holiday at Bramble Cottage. There are so many beautiful places to explore and, with a footpath going straight past the front door, you don't have to go out of your way to find them! Climb the 600 metres to the peak of Black Combe for views of the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man, and the Lakeland Fells. There are riding stables a short walk from the farm, and there is a paddock by the cottage guests can use if they bring a horse with them. Mountain biking, golf, and fishing are more fun activities to enjoy during your stay at Bramble Cottage. You're only six miles from Haverigg for a day at the coast, or why not book a session or tuition at Port Haverigg Watersports and Wakepark.
Bramble Cottage is in the far south of the Lake District National Park, 14 miles from Coniston Water and 23 miles from Windermere. England's deepest lake and highest mountain are less than an hour's drive, with other places to visit being Ravenglass, Whitehaven, Eskdale, and Muncaster Castle.
