About 8, Curlew Corner

8, Curlew Corner is in on the award-winning Wild Rose holiday park in the beautiful Eden Valley, close to Ormisde and Appleby and only a 20-minute drive from the Lake District. The modern lodge sleeps up to four people in two spacious bedrooms, boasting panoramic views of the Eden Hills from the deck. The open-plan layout is perfect for families but also works well for couples.

Wild Rose is a peaceful holiday park with fantastic amenities. Guests have use of the cafe, adventure playground, swimming pool and paddling pool, restaurant and bar where you can watch the big sporting events or enjoy live music and entertainment on a Saturday night. All of these facilities are within a short walk of the lodge, yet far enough that you still have the peace and privacy that you want from a self-catering property.

Outside the park gates, the breathtaking Eden Valley awaits. Walking and cycling are two favourite ways to explore, and there is a wealth of footpaths and trails to suit every ability. The pretty market town of Appleby-in-Westmoreland is just over three miles away. Walking there from the lodge is a great way to work up an appetite for a delicious lunch, or take the car and head up the M6 for a day of shopping and sightseeing in places like Penrith, Carlisle, Keswick, Skipton and Kendal.

It doesn't matter what time of the year you visit because there is always so much to see and do. The North Pennines are close by, as is the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, so there is plenty of choice for lovers of the great outdoors. Walk to places like Rutter Falls or drive to High Force in Upper Teesdale, climb mountains, cycle cross-country, enjoy the solitude of fell-walking, go horse riding, fish or play golf - it's all here and waiting for you. History buffs will enjoy local attractions like Moot Hall and Appleby Castle, whose grounds and gardens are open to visitors daily during summer.

Alternatively, wake up late, enjoy a lazy brunch on the deck and settle back for a blissful day of doing nothing. The choice is yours when you stay at this lovely lodge.

Accommodation Comprises:

The lodge is spacious, light and modern. There are steps up to the deck and the front door but, once inside, accommodation is all on one level.

  • Keeping the living room, dining room and kitchen open plan allows guests to enjoy views of the Eden Hills no matter where they are. A cathedral ceiling adds to the sense of space, and high-quality furnishings ensure guests are always comfortable.
  • Settle back on one of two three-seater sofas in the living room, where there is an electric log burner for an extra cosy effect in winter. The TV has a DVD player, there is a Bluetooth surround sound system and an iPod dock, and the owners have thoughtfully provided a selection of information about the local area and books for guests to enjoy during their stay.
  • Even the most unskilled chef will find it simple to cook tasty meals in the well-equipped kitchen which includes a gas Smeg hob, a dishwasher, and a coffee maker. There is plenty of space to store and prepare food, and all the utensils and crockery you'll need. A welcome hamper stuffed with local treats is a lovely touch.
  • Sleep soundly in the master bedroom where there is a king-sized bed and plenty of proper storage so you can unpack and feel at home right away. The ensuite has a walk-in shower, WC, and a vanity unity with a shaver point.
  • A second bedroom has two 3ft-wide single beds, ample storage and a TV with a DVD player.
  • Relax in the luxury of a full-sized bath which has an overhead shower for those who prefer. There is also a WC, handbasin and shaver point.
  • Families will appreciate the utility room where there is a washing machine, clothes airer and clothesline, as well as a sink for rinsing muddy shoes and paws.

Outside: The wrap-around deck has two seating areas so you can follow the sunshine, eating outdoors and enjoying lazy summer barbecues. There is allocated parking for two cars next to the lodge, with a space to store bikes underneath the deck. In addition to the private garden which is mainly lawn, guests have use of all of the shared outdoor amenities on site.

Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, sheets and towels are provided, as is fuel for the barbecue. Sorry but no dogs. Short breaks (minimum of four nights) are possible depending on availability. Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
