About Zedbrook

Zedbrook is the epitome of a dream country holiday home, surrounded by fields and an easy five-minute walk to the Red Lion Pub and the medieval St Dunstan’s Church in the village of Snargate. This spacious modern home has recently been refurbished to provide a high standard of comfort with superb accommodation for up to eight guests in four bedrooms. It is the perfect place to stay whether you are a family (or extended family) with energetic children who need space to use up their boundless energy, or are a group of friends catching up and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of Romney Marsh.

Snargate is a charming village. The church, which dates in parts from the 1200s, has a less-than-pious past, as it was once a place smugglers stashed their ill-gotten booty. You can easily imagine clandestine distribution deals taking place over a tankard in the Red Lion, which has been serving Kent-brewed ale since the early 1500s and run by the same family since 1911.

Appledore is a gentle three-mile walk or cycle from Zedbrook. It is hard to believe this pretty village was the site of war but not only did the Danish Vikings choose it as their landing point for their invasion of England in 892, but the French also followed suit in 1380, burning much of the village to the ground. Appledore has an excellent pub and a tea room which is the perfect place to pause your exploration of Romney Marsh and refuel with a generous wedge of home-made cake.

As lovely as the villages are, it is the beautiful and unspoiled landscape of Romney Marsh which attracts visitors. The particular quality of the light coupled with the glorious scenery has inspired artists for centuries and offers something for everyone whether you like bird watching, cycling, photography, walking, playing golf, fishing or sailing. The coast, which is a short drive from Zedbrook, is a vast stretch of sand and shingle. Spend the day building sandcastles at Camber Sands or St Mary's Bay; getting your thrills on the rides at Dymchurch's traditional amusement park on the beach, or enjoying the ocean views from the links of Littlestone Golf Club. Zedbrook is also convenient for Rye and the vibrant Kentish town of Tenterden.

However you spend your time, Zebrook is a wonderfully comfortable place to start and end every day of your holiday.

Accommodation Comprises:

Zedbrook is a traditional style detached farmhouse which has been updated and modernised to cater for modern day visitors.

Downstairs:

  • Open plan living/dining room accessed off the kitchen. It is multi-aspect and benefits from lovely garden views and lots of natural light. The dining area has a rectangular table with eight chairs.
  • The sitting area has two large sofas, a flat screen television, and large glass doors that open into the garden. A separate door leads into the main hall.
  • Modern kitchen fitted with a dishwasher, electric oven and ceramic stove. It is well stocked with utensils, cutlery and crockery so that self-catering, even for groups of eight, is easy. There is a breakfast bar with stools for morning coffee, and the kitchen is big enough for several people to cook together.
  • A tiled shower room with shower, WC and hand basin leads off the spacious entry hall.
  • There is a separate utility room with washing machine and freezer.
  • A spacious twin bedroom is perfect for children, or adults who want their own space as it also has a couch, television, and French doors opening onto the paved patio and garden.

Upstairs: Three double bedrooms lead off a long landing. Each room has a television, bedside tables and reading lamps.

  • The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and en-suite with shower, WC and hand basin.
  • Bedrooms two and three have double beds, good storage, and views of the garden and surrounding countryside.
  • A family bathroom has a bath with a shower above it, WC and hand basin.

Outside: Zedbrook is set back from a quiet road. It is surrounded by a large, private enclosed garden, part of which is paved and which has a garden table and chairs for outdoor meals, or a peaceful evening drink as you watch the sunset. There is off street parking for several cars.

Additional Information: Zedbrook has central heating and double glazing throughout. All utilities, sheets and towels are included in the cost. Short breaks may be possible out of season depending on availability. No pets. No smoking.
