About Sentinel

Sentinel is in an exceptional position, tucked away along a private farm track. With glorious countryside views and an abundance of peace and tranquility, this stylish split level holiday home is ideal for families, friends and couples who appreciate a little extra space around them. Sitting on a Kent fruit farm that used to grow both apples and pears, this welcoming dog-friendly holiday home is located on the edge of the village of Sutton Valence amongst glorious rolling countryside in the 'Garden of England'.

Today the farm grows soft fruit and is home to three beautiful holiday retreats. The owners live on the farm where they have lovely South American Paso Fino horses which they are more than happy to show you. All three properties provide comfy retreats and a great base for exploring the many attractions of Kent.

Sitting right at the very heart of the beautiful county of Kent, guests have an abundance of attractions to visit, as well as a choice of three pubs for a meal out within walking distance up the hill in the nearby village. Hop on a train and visit London for the day or France (both are within an hour's train ride!). For those who enjoy shopping, Ashford's Designer Outlet is a must, as is Bluewater Shopping Centre, one of the largest of its kind in the country. Kent's county town of Maidstone is only fifteen minutes away or drive a little further and visit the City of Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral. The City of Rochester is also within easy reach and home to the country's second oldest cathedral. Tenterden is a pretty and quaint small town to visit with many small shops, eateries and antique shops as well as a popular steam railway. Royal Tunbridge Wells is another popular choice with both independents and high street names.

Kent is the county of castles and country houses and you have a great choice of National Trust properties to visit (including Bodiam Castle and Scotney Castle) within easy reach. Leeds castle is magnificent both in terms of its castle and its grounds and is only a few minutes away (seven minutes by car). It hosts a variety of activities throughout the year. Ightham Mote and Sissinghurst are also within easy reach.

For those who like to keep active, the surrounding area has a myriad of footpaths and byways to explore by bike or foot as well as golf and fishing. For lazy days head to the coast and enjoy some traditional seaside fun. Sandwiched between Whitstable in one direction and Rye in the other there are lots of lovely beaches to choose from, whether your preference is shingle or sand.

Location (Kent)

Sentinel comfortably sleeps four guests in two bedrooms or six with the use of a sofa bed. Enjoying a sunny position all day through, guests have a fabulous veranda for sitting out and enjoying the glorious countryside views.

Accommodation is split across two levels and comprises:

Ground floor

  • Open-plan living area with three distinct areas for cooking, relaxing and dining. The kitchen area is well equipped with electric oven/hob (including extractor over), microwave and fridge/freezer. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer for guest use. A large dining table seats six and the patio glass doors take you out to the decked verandah. At the other end of the room is the lounge area with comfy seating, HD flat screen Freeview television (plus CD/DVD players and iPod docking) and a modern electric fire feature set in the wall.
  • Shower room with walk-in corner shower cubicle, hand basin, WC and towel rail (heated).

First floor

  • Double bedroom with sloping ceilings that add to the charm without limiting the head room.
  • Twin bedroom with two single beds and sloping ceilings.
  • Cloak room with WC and hand basin.

Outside: There is a south-facing decked verandah that gets the sun all day where you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine as your supper is cooking (Gas BBQ available). Plenty of off-road parking available by the cottage.

Additional information: The owners have friendly dogs and are happy for guests to bring a sociable dog along (please enquire if you wish to bring more than one). Saturday changeover is preferred but the owners try to be flexible where possible. Prices include heating, bed linen, electricity and towels. Short breaks available - please enquire with the owner. A welcome tray with milk, tea and coffee are provided upon arrival. Cot and high chair available.
