Griffin House sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms and is a terraced property located in the very heart of the historic Kentish town of Sandwich. Within a short stroll of shops, great pubs and restaurants (plus a small cinema), guests can enjoy a good range of amenities on the doorstep. Sandwich also has a mainline railway station with services to London and a local bus service so no need to bring the car if you prefer not to.
Boat trips are available on the river which is a short walk from Griffin House and there is a coarse fishing lake on the outskirts of the town for those who enjoy fishing. Bicycles can be hired locally and provide a great way of exploring this scenic part of the Kent coastline. There are also numerous golf courses in the area including The Royal St. George's Golf Club in Sandwich, one of the world's finest courses.
The ancient town of Sandwich is one of the original Cinque Ports and is a beautifully presented town which still retains much of its traditional charm with its narrow cobbled streets, tiny alleyways, medieval buildings and peaceful quayside where you can ejoy an ice cream and a stroll. For the more active, take a short walk across country (and the golf course) to Sandwich Bay, a long sweeping beach of sand, mud flats and pebbles with a nature reserve - if you are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of the seals off Sandwich Bay!
For those who want to travel a little further, the sandy seaside resorts of Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs are a short drive away (under half an hour) offering a multitude of attractions, as is the City of Canterbury with its shops and beautiful cathedral. Sandwich is also close to the channel port of Dover for those who want to take a day trip to France or stay in Dover itself and explore its famous White Cliffs and Dover Castle with its wartime tunnels.
